Apple still sells the 2012 MacBook Pro.  They reduced the price as well, all the way down to ~$1299 for a 13" laptop with a 5400-rpm disk drive and a dual-core CPU.

I think I paid $3400 for my Macbook Pro mid 2010 17" screen I should have waited 6 years and got a 15" Retina display for much less.
Sorry people for indulging the Troll my bad.

Are you confident in your ability to differentiate between innovation and planned obsolescence?  Sadly, I don't believe many consumers are.

It's more like planned improvement. A designers makes the best product that they can with what they have and what they know. When they know more and have better materials and ideas, they improve on the original. If you don't believe this to be the case, you can hang onto your money and not buy anything.

Hopefully 6 years from now, people will look at the ETHER FLOW more favorably than we currently look at a 2010 MacBook.

I'm still on my Macbook and I still love it. We do others think the Mid 2010 Macbook is a bad thing?
Sorry people I did it again responding to the Troll.

and the price will be one quarter of what it is now...

Hopefully a headphone of this caliber won't decrease in value by 75% within 6 years.  That would be a much higher rate of depreciation than we typically see in the headphone market.

Don't forget that Dan is an ex-modder so he is used to changing tuning without messing with the drivers.

I haven't compared the Flow directly to the Audeze's yet.  But they're not really going for the same things with the tuning.  Audeze tends tends to be mid-forward and warm with the LCD 2, 3, 4.  The Ether is going for a more balanced presentation with a bit of a bass boost.  It's definitely a flavor difference; some people will just prefer the house sound of one over the other.  Personally, I prefer the Ether Flow, but I've never much preferred that mid-forward Audeze sound.
have you had the chance to run these new Ethers out of Gungnir Multibit/Mjolnir 2? I know it's a long shot ... But I'm dreaming of this setup and would appreciate any impressions

I have mjolnir 2 and new ether. The pairing is exceptional.
do you pair it with Gumby? I can't demo any Schiit gear as there's no distributor where I live and will have to buy it blind, thanks for the reassurance that they work well together, what tubes are you running on the mj2?

Just out of curiosity, is this wave guide thing similar to Audeze's Fazor?

Appears to be similar in concept (optimize the air/sound flow around the magnet) but in a different manner. Cheers
