  Don't the Ether and LCD-X have a similar SQ?

 
Yup, both are pretty close though the Ether is smoother in the mids/treble while the LCD-X bass is nicer to my ears. I've learned my lesson in letting go of my old Audezes though and really missing it. I figured to just keep the X since I got it for a great price and if I sell it, I won't get it back for the price I paid for(<$1000).

lcd-x sounds thicker. has better impact and slam. better bass quality. more coloration in the upper mids of the lcd-x.

lol. I wasn't really sure which Ether thread is the "official" impression thread & which Ether thread is the "general discussion" thread, but I posted an extremely in-depth review on the Ether HERE with an addendum covering direct headphone comparisons HERE.
 
Hope it is entertaining & if TLTR, maybe the pictures & measurements will be of interest. The conclusion is a pretty quick overall summary of my thoughts. worked on the review during my free time over the past 7 weeks, so ended up having quite a ton of content. =S

I've removed my embarrassing fail. I had a both tabs open and forgot to switch. The impressions thread is meant to be for impressions, as people were wanting to read only impressions without having to hunt through a bunch of random discussion, so we've set it as a standard thing now with new, significant products.

It gets activated on pickup. We're awaiting cases, so a few pending orders may not ship until early next week. A lot of headphones are done and ready to ship as soon as they come in.
