So i have the oppurtunity to get new headphones for my computer this holiday season and  i thought i would look into it. My budget would be around 300-500$. I listen to mostly electro-house, dubstep, nu-rave, alternative, and some indie. I will be plugging into this

I enjoy a bass alot but not bloated bass at all, it should be tight and punchy and controlled. I like it to make itself know but not get in the way of the mids and treble. Soundstage is also really important to me, i really like it when i have a 3d sense. I prefer closed cans but in no way is that a requirement.
So far ive been looking into PRO 900's, HD650's and...

but i'm not dead set on anything yet.
Thank you

I would recommend that you try out the Audio-Technica W1000X or Sennheiser HD650. I feel the W1000X have a really good 3d soundstage with nice, tight bass. For just soundstage width, I think the HD650's are pretty good and fairly "balanced" with a slight edge to the lower regions. They are a little laid back, but I think they are really good all around cans.

If you liked your M50 see if you can get a used pair of AH D7000, from what other's have told me the D7000 will be similar but improved in every way. I bought a pair after owned AD700/AD900, HD600, and several high end universal IEM's (SM3, MTPC, IE8) and the D7000 just slays everything I have owned according to my ears. I am sitting listening to them as I type with a grin on my face that just won't go away.

Well i figure my nuforce HDP could power any head phone i need but i'm not an expert, D7000 and W1000X would both be great aswell if i can find them in the price range i need. How does the regular W1000 compare?

Truth.
D7000 = Big Brother, similar to M50... but better in every way, indeed.

Oh also am i right in assuming my amp could power all these cans to their full potential?

That amp will rock the D7000 with ease. I am using my D7000 with a small desktop amp, my auzentech forte sound card, and a portable amp with my iphone, all with great success. To put that into perspective. I can play the D7000 with just the iPhone but there is a definite lack of punch in the bass and sharpness and fullness of detail in the rest of the sound spectrum, whereas I don't hear the loss with any of my other gear with slight improvements when I go from the portable amp to the sound card and then to the desktop amp. My D7000 is reterminated so I can go to a balanced amp someday if I want but so far the sound quality is so good I just don't feel any big need to go that route yet. So I just use the 1/4" adapter I have with it and my current equipment.

I won't say I am done buying headphones as my past shows that I am not easily satisfied. But I honestly don't think I will, or not easily anyway as this headphone really is doing everything I think I want in a headphone, much more so than anything else I have ever owned.

I never thought $1000 headphones would sound better than $100 headphones. Thanks for telling me.
