Moondrop in-ear monitors Impressions Thread

Scary? You mean you fear to break the cable when installing? I think we use standard 2pin recessed socket just like a typical eidolic 2pin connector...

The Moondrop S8. That one did not have a recessed socket. One of the problems I have is the right side is looser than the left, and scary that I will break the iem rather than cables (easily replaceable).

Perhaps for future models that are not vented, I suggest drilling a tiny pore somewhere to release the pressure in the ear canals. Like being underwater, a dull pain begins in the ears after some listening.

Other than that it is a very comfortable iem.

yeah maybe the notch on kanas pro sound bore should return... blessing 2 has a similar vent to release pressure, but it was for tuning purposes.

Saw BGGAR's review on The Blessing 2, with the complaint regarding discomfort with (nozzle?) fit. I meant if he's normally a large (or medium) tip user, it's going to be uncomfortable. On my end, I actually am using the small stock tips and the fit is better when I want a deep fit. Bah, ymmv.
did he got a sample from hifigo.com? we just found out that their sample got wrong tips(these for KXXS which is a less deep insertion)we have no means to control our review impression but sometimes we want to correct something that possibly cause by a mistake. (As I personally read through these of headfi, the two reviews that complaining about tips are from samples of hifigo.com)

Hey guys, are Blessing 2 and Starfield extremely easy to drive as the specs suggest? I punched the sensitivity and impedance into headphones power calculators along with Andromeda and Massdrop Plus and looks like the Moondrops are even easier to drive than Andros.

I actually sold the Andros because they're too easy to drive on my phone (Galaxy S10) - 1 to 6% usable volume range, giving me only 5 steps of volume control. And the ringing is ear-piercingly loud whenever a phone call comes in. Yes, there's IEmatch but a hassle to use on the go. MD+ is slightly harder to drive the other three (per calculator) but still pretty sensitive.

So I'm specifically looking for IEMs (DD or hybrid) that're harder to drive. ER2XR is perfect in this regard but comfort is lacking when lounging around the house. Thanks in advance.

I never try andros but i heard that they are crazy sensitives, so that's why they are very easy to drive. For both Starfield & B2, they are easy to be driven off with even your phone too & they aren't going to get piercing as well.

I see you using Galaxy phone as well :). What volume range are you setting B2 and Starfield, in a quiet environment? Presumably you're also using Sound Assistant app that gives you 1% volume increment.

Edit: I think I got the sensitivity units mixed up - db/Vrms vs. db/mW - Moondrop's IEM's should be harder to drive than MD+. I'll wait for your confirmation using S10+.

Table below for anyone interested (for 120db since some of these are extremely sensitive and the calculators are generating same result for lower SPL). Pretty sure Andro's spec is listed wrong on Campfire's site - should be db/mW. ER2XR uses a different unit still, so I added 20db to compensate to 1V - might not be accurate - but on S10, the volume range I use is between 5-20%.

Hi, I love my Starfields, and I'm sorry if this has already been covered somewhere earlier in this gigantic discussion! Has anyone found a balanced table (2.5 mm plug) that fits the Starfield perfectly? I have a 2-pin, balanced cable that I picked up on Amazon.com a while ago for another pair of IEM's, but the end of the plastic housing on the cable plug is not quite small enough (not tapered enough) to sit completely in the body of the Starfield. Can someone point me to a cable that fits perfectly? Thank you!

Beautiful work! Could you kindly compare vocals between dk2001 and blessing2?
I'm like a month in, and tip rolling is something I do with them since I get different synergy with different daps. TIA.

I think the vocals are better on Blessing 2 only because the DK2001 has a little more recessed mids and sharper upper mid range and lower treble. For my preferences, I think the Blessing 2 is better than the DK2001 but not as good as the DK3001 Pro, only because I think bass is done better on the DK3001 Pro.
