What you get with Simaudio Moon gear is more depth, clarity and space as you move up the line. When you hear the Neo gear it is terrific for the price. Then you get to the Evolution line and while it is more xpensive it has a more dramatic and impactful presentation. Even within the Evolution line there are a couple of levels as well. At each point you get more than fair price/performance value.

780D anyone?

Thanks. I'm also a big fan of the AQ diamond I see in your sig and swear by it.

AQ makes great cables. I use a lot of them.

Just noting I did use the 430HA with internal DAC for the review...and pretty much all reviews since Big Sound 2015.  It is my reviewing amp and will be a constant until I find a better amp for my purposes.

I recently ordered my 430HAD with an AQ Diamond USB and an AQ Coffee digital interlink for the cd transport. Both sounded really great when I auditioned the units

It is a solid DAC. For the money it is exceptional.

Listening to PJ Harvey's "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea" through Ether C's and then through HE-6's. Wow! Grinning like an idiot this is so fine. Exquisite amp/DAC with both cans and the range of her voice! Amazing...

Currently now using the Moon Neo 430HAD with my LCD-4 and it sounds lightning fast.

This is very helpful, as I have decided on 430HA-D but not sure about better headphones to pair with it. Had been thinking of HE-1000s. My main problem is I am virtually housebound so cannot get to dealers or shows to try out possible upgrades to my HE-500s.

The HE-1000 is very slightly below the LCD-4 with the Moon.

You'll enjoy it a lot.

I may be totally off base here but I might be inclined to beleive that the HE-1000 might not scale as well as an Abyss or a LCD-4.  Meaning that in order to take full advantage of all that 430HA goodness one may look at other top tier headphone offerings besides the HE-1000.

As mentioned however I may be totally off base on this one

Anyway you slice it though its a good problem to have.

Welcome to the view from a mountaintop. At this level of headphone enjoyment it is imperative that a person listen on their own and not rely solely on opinions. I have had the Abyss and HE1000's in house with the 430HA-D I own the HD800's and the LCD-X so I get plenty of time with them and the Moon. I have also gotten a fair amount of time at shows with the LCD-4's. While I can comment on what I have heard, I would not want to characterize any of them as definitively "Better". You are comparing several TOTL cans that all bring their own unique flagship properties to the table.
