As my Moon 430HA is burning in the sound with my new LCD4 phones is absolutely spectacular! During the burn in it can be a little frustrating as it is a roller coaster ride with good sound and not so good sound but from what I’ve heard this evening it’s worth the ride.

How did you burn in and for how long? Pink noise or music? Thank you! :)

Just by listening to music and letting music play when I wasn’t listening. I read that it could take several hundred hours.

not several hundred but it does take close to 100 hours. You’re correct in music tends to be the easiest way to burn in your gear.

Hi folks: I’m having problems with my unit: sounds congested and also harsh on the LCD4: a funny combination. Went to my local store and tested my LCD4 on their 430HA: absolutely SPECTACULAR. Detailed, relaxed, great soundstage, great separation and a full sound. For some reason I just can’t replicate the same thing at home. It’s not that my sound at home is irredeemably bad: it’s just on another (lower) level and I’ve no idea why.

Going to take my unit into the store for some testing and then, hopefully, off to Simaudio for a look.
Does the dealer have the same DAC, cables and server as you when you’re making the comparisons?

What made my Moon 430 HA sing was an upgrade in digital cables. Put the right combo of gear before this amp and it swings. It far betters my Auralic Taurus MkII and I loved my Auralic. I kept it as a spare amp as I feel it more valuable than the money I could get for it.

Not necessarily replacing it. I have 5 other amps here. Time to start thinning out the herd :relaxed:

Gotcha. I am doing the same with two-channel stuff.

xxx HIFI+ - the same HiFi+ UK magazine?

Sorry - just looked at the link you posted - yes same magazine. Nice one - I am a subscriber. Even though I am in the States I wave the British flag with Naim, Linn, Kudos and dCS!

Yes, that HiFi+. I am one of their US based writers. While the mag is UK based it has a large readership in the US.
