For those interested in replacing the ugly and flimsy headband:
https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005002189636045.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.22336c37drMP5g ( choose the 105mm model)

Modded with:
-Fuzzor Mod
-Dekoni Pads
-3D printed grills

Because the two gimbals screws on each side seems hard to remove, I just unscrewed the top screw on both gimbals, and drill it a little bit bigger to use it on the new headband.

At the risk of sounding stupid, I had to replace the M1060 stock earpads because they finally broke down and peeled off. I started with placeholder pleather Brainwavz, they were serviceable, but bass sounded loose and treble painfully sharp.

I switched them to ZMF Eikons (lambskin). Bass feels tighter, soundstage feels narrower (wish it was wider), but the treble and sibilance is still painful. It's so bad I can't listen to these at normal levels anymore, they just hurt my ears and aggravate my tinnitus.

I'm at a loss on how to get the treble back to what they sounded like with the stock pads. And as an added bonus, a wider soundstage similar to the stock pads as well.

I can remember that I got some alcantara pads from https://vesperaudio.com/earpads?brand=181 back in the day. They build them as you wish and you have to write them via email but it was worth it. I ordered them as follows for the M1060:
  • Black alcantara
  • Angled
  • Memory foam
I payed 63€ incl. shipping. Quality was top notch and the Alcantara/Suede finally tamed the ringing in the treble.

zmf universal suedes are the closest thing to the original audeze microsuede pads that I have found. Way more comfortable than stock. No loss of soundstage.

Did they come with the rods as shown by default, or the hideous metal things from the product image? Is there a specific request necessary besides choosing the 105mm size.

I've arrived at this EQ profile. Using a dragonfly as DAC and a Topping L30 for plenty of power and loving them! Once you have gobs of power on hand the bass comes alive beautifully, and the bass transients stop sacrificing the rest of the signal.
