Well, now that I've placed an order and am waiting the monoprice qc lottery, could those of you that returned the first batch advise if doing the paper towel mod and pad replacement caused any issues when you tried to return them?
Like if I do the mods and then a connector broke or the wood cracked... um... yeah...
@macky112 There really shouldn't be an issue. You just pull the pads off, there will be residue left over to reattach the stock pads and filter.
Paper towel mod just requires removing the 4 outer screws to take off the grill. Very easy, just be gentle but firm as to not strip the screws in the wood.
Happy for those who will soon get to enjoy their new or replacement 1060's! Also, I noticed that monoprice sells certain products officially refurbished with a big discount... pardon my pure speculation, but if there were a lot of returns from the first batch, a nice cache of cheap(er), refurbished 1060's might be hitting their shelves soon. If you're really budget concious and/or patient, waiting to see could pay off.

Down to 14. This is a small batch, methinks. 100 maybe? Perhaps the supplier can only deliver 100 at a time? If that's true it's going to be a mad grab once a month. I bought one for fear of selling out even though I wanted to get it on Amazon because I have a gift card. I guess I will have to use the gift card for something else.
Well, if not for them screwing up the check I got sent for some work I did last week, I'd be ordering these today. Oh well, looks like I'll have to wait for the next batch.
On the bright side I'll get a chance to hear if the issues where truly fixed. So I guess it not so bad.
