lol, this unboxing had me cracking up, he was focusing so much on how good they smelled, and he put them on the wrong way! I have a bit of OCD about that. Otherwise these phones look smashing.
Need comparisons though, cant wait for that.

OK, after having to sell much of my headphone collection in recent month and just closing my business. I'm considering to M1060 as a pick me up as I mess my other headphones (HE-400i, Fidelio X2, HE-400, HD 600, DT 1350, DT 770 80 ohms, K712).

I still have my HE-500 (also HD 598 SE and DT 1770) and wondering if the M1060 offers something over the HE-500? CAn anyone comment?

cskippy, on your page i see you owned an HE-500 before. Would you say these play on that same level of sound quality?

I absolutely ADORE the sound of my HE-500s.

HE-500 is one impressive headphone.  I'm sad I sold mine but after HE-6 I can't look back.  HE-500 has slightly better impact and maybe sub bass due to a little more downward tilt.  HE-500 also has a smoother midrange that leads into a broad treble peak at 10kHz which give cymbals some tizz.  M1060 has a more depressed midrange and no spike through the treble so it's darker and slightly muddy in comparison.  I wouldn't bother with M1060 if you have the HE-500.

Looking forward to your pad-rolling findings.  Forgive my noobish understanding of the potential of different pads - but are you looking for ones that will produce a flatter freq. response?  I'd definitely be interested in trying that sort of mod.

Yes, flatter frequency response closer to my other reference headphones HE-6 and HD650.

I know a lot of people complain about the connector, but I know Shure also has used it on some of their headphone models. I'm ok with it, as long as the connectors work.

IMO, no unless mods can vastly improve it.  Look at making Jerg Pads if you want to improve your HE-500.

Maybe one thing that better over HE-500 is easier to drive since HE-500 is hard to drive and need serious power to drive where M1060 much easier to drive if I understood correctly.

Edit: Another advantage is that HE-500 is very uncomfortable and heavy as hell and M1060 would be noticeably more comfortable to wear in long hours of listening time..

I agree on both points.

EDIT: So pad rolling might be more invasive than I thought.  It seems that the inside is the same as the outside and the pad is glued down all the way onto the metal face.  I'm going to wait to see if there are any issues under the 30 day return period before modding.

So have any of the other people been able to resolve the connection issue? Is it really easy to trigger and do you think it'll be an issue down the road?

MMCX just are known in IEM world to have failure issues vs other connectors.

It is also a current bottleneck maybe (?) vs using bridged mini-XLR connectors.

Thanks, you may have saved me $300. Maybe I'll chase one of those headphones I sold and miss.

Thanks, luckily I have no issues driving them with my NFB-11 DAC/AMP or Project Polaris AMP.

Comfort alone won't motivate me to buy these.
