I doubt you'll get 5 years of warranty (I also was under the impression they had bumped it down to 1?) by ordering international. I was always under the impression that purchasing something abroad, in that yoy purchase a US item to a country outside of the US, removes the warranty. Am I wrong?

I honestly just want to find out this and if Monoprice will ever make a v3 or not. Someone in here recommended me the TH-X00, but for $499 + shipping and tax (basically $620-650 total), its simply too much. The M1060 already costs $420 total when importing it to Norway from Monoprice' own store.

The warranty is definitely 5 years, Monoprice themselves have come onto this thread on multiple occasions to clarify that. I'm not sure about international, but usually if you buy directly from a company (even international), they would honor the warranty. I thought I remember seeing international customers on this thread either return or RMA their version 1's.

What makes you think there will be a version 3?? It seems like version 2 is doing quite well and took care of all the problems? I think there have been a very tiny handful of wood cracks from version 2, but seeing as how they sold thousands of version 2's, I don't think the wood cracking is considered a big issue anymore. In order for you to minimize your expenses, wouldn't it be a lot cheaper for you to buy a pair on the used market? Or does that not affect import taxes? I am not sure, but Monoprice might honor the warranty even if they are second hand. That is something you might want to look into.

before ordering my V2 i email their customer support and they told me the warranty is valid and they provide a prepaid shipping label to send it to them so i guess their 5 year warranty is valid on all of the countries they ship to

It's only one piece of felt.. Try removing the whole thing and see if you like it better. I swear the ringing is a lot less audible now, but that's my ears, might be different for you.. I'm getting Audeze leather pads by the end of the week, can't wait :)
Looking forward to the impression on them Audeze leather pads !

The warranty is international if you buy it directly, but it is still a lot of money to invest in something that might fail. I know there are some other headphones on the used market (finn.no, I'm Norwegian too), two he400's going for 250 USD or something and one LCD-2 rosewood for around 550, which are great options that need no mods to sound good, and might not break in a few years. Also some people prefer the he400s with new pads, and they can be found a lot cheaper some places (tror oslohifisenter selger disse..)

EDIT: Also, amazon.com is having a huge sale on hifiman products, 400i's for 250 usd and edition S as low as 150 :o Shipping and import charges are calculated directly, it says around 110 usd, which is a lot lower than for the m1060's (67 USD shipping and 94 USD import taxes..)

I wish Monoprice would list them on Ebay again, although the selling price is a bit higher the Global Shipping Program is a lot cheaper than shipping from Monoprice......

another m1060 review up on youtube. Find it strange how he can discard them as good cans before even attempting to mod them. Swapping pads is literally some of the most easy things most people can manage...

So there are two people saying stock pads without stock black driver cloth sounds good, and there are people saying vegan pads with stock black driver cloth driver sounds good.

Is it possible for someone to generate some graphs for comparison?

It is probably a good reminder that @MrTie84 did a ton of different mod comparison measurements and put them into a nice imgur album a while back.

the two mod combinations (stock pads with no stock driver cover cloth, and Vegan pads with stock driver cover cloth) I listed do not have any graphs posted, to my knowledge

That guy really needs to mod those things... and he's comparing it against a modded 650. Not exactly apples there...

Well it's perfectly reasonable to give your opinion on a stock product as it is delivered. He also didn't like them enough to think spending and additional $65 to $100 is worthwhile. They are also probably loaners so modding isn't an option in that case.

He's entitled to his opinion even if he doesn't like it a much as most of us. He is certainly more picky than most, but I like that he doesn't think everything is wonderful.

There is also validity to the idea you shouldn't have to spend and additional $65 to $100 to improve a $300 headphone. Sure I and many here are willing to because we like it. Nut I really wish I didn't have to.

Finally pad rolling isn't that easy when you can't get them damn Pads (looking at you B&H).

well a lot of people have ran the HM5 velour on them but so far there's no graph of it yet, i'd like to see a comparison between the HM5 and the vegan pads, maybe the difference is barely noticeable

Yeah I have been talking to him on the headphones Discord channel about it. These were loaners and he doesn't have vegans (not surprising with how hard they are to get a hold of). He said he couldn't get over the 5 kHz ringing and that the more he tried to EQ it out the more it was apparent. He also said that adding the cost of the pad mod that he couldn't see these being a better value than HE-500 at that point.

It is apparent that some people (like myself) can't ever hear the 5 kHz ringing, stock or modded, and some people can hear it clearly and can't get over it. I might consider sending Metal571 and Ishca (Verum Sonus) my vegan modded pair to see if it is the mods or even just variance between pairs that make this 5 kHz ringing present or not.

Wait, I thought people were saying stock pads with no rear foam (outer grill side) was good. That measurement is in there. And the vegan pads + stock driver cloth is the original @cskippy mod, which is there as well and on cskippy's signature. @MrTie84 also measured vegans with and without the stock driver side cloth. The difference was pretty minimal: (Yellow=Vegan+stock front fabric stock damping, Green= Vegan without it.)

It may seem like a small difference, but a 2-5db boost is definitely noticable. Look at 2-5k, and, well, the rest of the frequencies that aren't nulls.

The pad missing is definitely brighter. (I would prefer it without the felt pads.)
