No, I don't know how certain people received that color, but it's certainly not tied down to a region. Is the copper grill version EU/UK only?
if you wanna listen to them with your Schiit then feel free to hit me up.Thought it was going from your listed location lol. I should really go in and have a listen, it is only about 30 minutes on the train from work.

As far as I understand. The black/copper look is a prototype model only. Not production. So only handful were made. And most had the shiny gloss carbon band and only a a few with satin carbon fiber band. No, I don't know how certain people received that color, but it's certainly not tied down to a region.[/QUOTE
I have a pair with satin carbon top band and the production model with the sort of grey tones/titanium if you will. For anyone who has the new darker color model, can they post a photo? It would be interesting to see.
I would love to have a pair In silver/champagne but think it may be the rarest color combo and possibly the most early prototype, but I cannot confirm this. Just assume so since it’s shown in some of the early development photos.
Antonio replied back to me earlier and said the carbon band changed to a satin color for the production version. It was that shiny color for the prototype version. Personally I like the satin color a lot more.As far as I understand. The black/copper look is a prototype model only. Not production. So only handful were made. What DAC are you going to use?![]()
Probably not the right place for this comment but IMHO you guys should listen to the new amp by Manley. Its modeled after their cult following 300B. It's crazy good and unique in many ways besides being beautiful. Hopefully by next Friday i'll be listening to the Empyreans through the Absolute amp and smiling.

PeteStradamus, I use Ed Meitner's flagship DAC called the DA2. His company is called EMM Labs from Calgary, Canada. All discreet components and no off the shelf chip sets. Ed invented SACD for Sony.

Actually, the Empyrean will make a visually striking addition to this station -- sonically as well I assume.

No doubt this has already been asked, but how can a Romanian audio company, established just 10 years ago, produce what appears to be a truly superb-measuring headphone with no significant sonic flaws and a stunningly beautiful build quality too. Makes you wonder if the competition has been resting on its laurels?!

The big companies like Sennheiser and Focal can excel in this space if they want to, but not many of them have focused on it. Consider that Shure has some good IEMs, but currently doesn't offer any headphone over $500. That has left room for smaller and newer companies like Meze, Audeze, ZMF, Campfire Audio, HiFiMan, etc. to produce higher-end products for what turns out to be a significant segment of the market.

Very nice! That EMM DA2 is killer as well, quite a bit better than the Meitner MA1 and EMM Labs DAC2X (which are plenty good already).
I intend to use the Empyrean with the Niimbus Audio US4+, Pass Labs HPA-1, and this "little" Cayin HA-300 tube amp:

DACs will be the Resonessence Labs Mirus Pro Signature, the B.M.C. UltraDAC, the Wyred 4 Sound 10th Anniversary Edition, and my trusty ModWright Oppo 205. Should be loads of fun comparing.

Very cool. Some of you cans guys are crazy. lol
Maybe i'm old fashioned but at 68 it's one pair of speakers and one set of cans for me. If i wasn't retired and on fixed income perhaps i'd be like you Mr project86. Probably would have my wife walk out on me but it might be worth it. ha
Nice amps. I'm using a 225lb VTL S-400. As i've aged i don't upgrade as often as i once did but i do buy each new gen of Meitner DACs. I don't know if there is better but i can't imaging that there is. Project86 you have a beautiful system. Do you really listen to all those cans??
