Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone

No doubt this has already been asked, but how can a Romanian audio company, established just 10 years ago, produce what appears to be a truly superb-measuring headphone with no significant sonic flaws and a stunningly beautiful build quality too. Makes you wonder if the competition has been resting on its laurels?!
i'll take that as a rhetorical question. that said, i don't think that companies such as audeze and focal have been thumb twiddling. :relaxed:

Well...audeze might have spent a little bit of time developing the mobius, for one thing

Very cool. Some of you cans guys are crazy. lol
Maybe i'm old fashioned but at 68 it's one pair of speakers and one set of cans for me. If i wasn't retired and on fixed income perhaps i'd be like you Mr project86. Probably would have my wife walk out on me but it might be worth it. ha

Nice amps. I'm using a 225lb VTL S-400. As i've aged i don't upgrade as often as i once did but i do buy each new gen of Meitner DACs. I don't know if there is better but i can't imaging that there is. Project86 you have a beautiful system. Do you really listen to all those cans??

Wow very nice, that amp is a beast!

Personally I only have this much stuff for review purposes. Having various references gives me different points of view, and helps with system matching. If I didn't have the review gig, I'd like to think I'd settle down with just one of each component, or perhaps a reference system and a fun "musical" system for contrast.

Some others around here seem to have as much or even more gear than I do, and they just listen for fun. Now that is crazy!

Cool, i was starting to feel like I'm an underachiever. ha
Ps have you ever listened to a Meitner MA1V2 or Ed's DA2 from EMM Labs? As they say i think it's the bomb

What makes you think that?
It was mentioned once before, because of the sound signature of the Empyrean. That people should try a dac that isn't laid back.

You guys should take this into a private message, and let’s bring this back to Empyrean thread.

True, sorry about the sidetrack. It's just that most of us are still waiting for our Empyrean to arrive, so we don't have much to talk about until then. But you are right, gotta keep it relevant.

Does anyone happen to have the link to the review of Ether 2, Empyrean and two other new planars? I saw this in a thread over the past two weeks but can’t find it now. It’s a Belgian article/blog if I remember correctly and had to be put through google translator.
