Sounds great thanks for testing. Yes I noted they look about as thin as the Elite hybrid on the narrow side. Any issues with your ears touching the grill?

No issues with touching the ears on the new angled pads. When using the Elite hybrid pads on the Empy the grills touch a bit.

Never mind, it was just meant as a gentle attempt to poke a bit of fun ..... Especially as I am now trying to convince myself that that standard Elite looks better than the Epoque version of the Elite (while in reality am blaming myself for not having sprung for the Epoque

Personally I prefer the Epoque over the Standard. However the price increase is quite big, so there is valid reason to choose the regular one.

The Standard Elite is still a very pretty headphone

Due to Covid and current problems with the suppliers, it has unfortunately taken a very long time for Pavlo's side to produce a now satisfactory audiophile performance with the angled Alcantara pads

It is great that the new angled alcantara pads are available now. Finally!! Good things come to those who wait.

I really like the sound with the new pads. It is much more neutral, without bass bloat. Bass seems to be faster and more precise. Imaging quality is preserved or even slightly improved too. With more space around the ears, the new pads are even more comfortable. It is great to have a much more neutral sounding pair of ear pads as an option. Thanks and kudos to Pavlo and the Meze guys and also to you, Nomax, for your persistence!

Any variant with leather at the sides and Alcantara on the surface that touches the ear? (Like for instance Solitaire P earpads?)

My angled Alcantara pads arrived yesterday, and in my opinion, they're easily the best pads for the Empyrean. They sound the most balanced with better mids, tighter bass than stock Alcantara without the crazy midbass bump of the stock leather, and have better imaging and soundstage. Thickness-wise they're about the same as the stock Alcantara at the rear, and slightly more narrow than the hybrid Elite pads at the front.

Now it is suitable for long term use

Finally got the new angled pads delivered today!
Besides being angled it has the bigger opening as the Elite hybrid pads have.
Very first impressions is that it feels closer to the Elite hybrid pads than the OG Alcantara pads.
Gone is the mid-bass bump of old, it remains very spacious.
