Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone

Utopia is way brighter than both.
I was thinking (loosely speaking so don’t get picky here):

Susvara: transparent, very detailed and somewhat relaxed/laidback
Empyrean: somewhat detailed and relaxed/“musical”, full sound warm tilt
Utopias: quite detailed, full sound with a punchy delivery

Look at those options!!!!! :)

I don't agree. I sold the Utopia for its tonality, ELITE is nothing alike imo
I didn’t mean it as an in between, which you may have now that i reread your previous post.
I was thinking more a contrasting / different sound

The old Empy is still rated amongst the 10 best headphones.
Even the Elite shouldn't worry old owners too much and keep them from enjoying what they have.
There's always the danger of consumption pressure fed by marketing and rabbit hole addiction bias - I cannot exclude myself from it either

the empy was one of the biggest disappointments to me, I bought it and sold it after a few weeks and took a small loss...I am curious what the elite will be like

I'm waiting for someone to say they prefer the Empyrean more than the Elite, just so I can justify my two month old purchase (and confirmation bias). Although, the 33% monetary increase is helping a bit.
Don't be scared about the Elite.

You're within the approx. 0.0001% worldwide who has the opportunity to listen to the great Empyrean.
I'm somewhat jealous about, I've to say.
Maybe I'll get the same within the next years. :)

Question for OG Empy owners in order to evaluate first review feedbacks for the new Elite:
Have you experienced SQ changes during burn in?
Do you consider cabling to be significant?
("Only" standard copper cable included in the stock package vs silver upgrade cable)
Thx

I have burned them for 200 hours but I wasn't very attentive to observe the changes.
I think that it got more tight and controlled.
I haven't bothered a lot with cables and I am using the Meze copper upgrade.
Some people in this thread vouch for the silver upgrade.

I find that a silver cable makes Empyrean sound better. Sound is cleaner, clearer and more open. I'm using a custom cable and it works great.

Thx, it's not only about your specific review but also about other private reviews coming in and comparing aspects like detail and treble to TOTLs like Susvara and I wanted to get a better feeling about how much burn in and cables effect such comparisons.
I have personally not expected Elite to really rival TC or Susvara in terms of detail or slam (especially TC) but more in terms of the OG strengths like musicality, timbre. I expect though to see some audible changes vs OG such as speed and detail.
As for the cabling, I know it's often also a topic of controversial discussions and I am not owning any TOTL but my Trailliis.
To give a house number: only the cable is rated as 2k bucks...
Super conduction cable sets are offered for TC, etc
So just wanted to understand the potentials of each device...
