Meze Audio LIRIC - The portable isodynamic hybrid array headphone

Hey guys! My take on Liric 2 is live now. Check it out! Hope it's a fun read. Let me know if you have any questions for me. Cheers!

Good review and an interesting read. You mention the Focal Clears with regard to bass and personally, probably down to the genres of music I listen to, I prefer the bass on the Lirics to that of my Focals. I was also interested in the DCA E3 but as I was unable to audition them alongside the Lirics I was prepared to risk two grand on a headphone that I may not have liked. Oddly enough I did order the Poets without auditioning them. Thankfully that's worked out well. Any review forthcoming on the new Poets?

I had a problem with the earcups on my Lirics, which I have mentioned above, now with the new earcups they have really opened up. I enjoyed them with the old earcups but now the Lirics are an absolute joy.

"Bokeh sadly is a bit too bassy, a bit muted in upper-midrange and treble, and way too warm for me overall. Different strokes for different folks"

Regarding the bokeh I completely understand your opinion even if I disagree.. for me the mids are like a warm smooth glass of scotch full of body and character with a ton of nuance and tactility...
Yes they are warm but I prefer their timbre over everything I've heard

Some headphones are, what I call, incompatible with each other. That is, they have such different timbres and characteristics that if you like one sound profile, you probably won’t like the other.

I believe the Liric II and the Bokeh fall into this category since they have completely opposite sound profiles. Both are excellent headphones, but they cater to different tastes.

Amazing customer service by the Meze team! The adhesive at the back of the earpads wasn't even as bad as many examples in this thread. But Meze did the job anyway, completely free of charge, and rather fast. It only took around 1 week in total from for the shipment between Sweden and Romania, plus the actual service. The customer service makes me want to buy the Poets...Maybe in the future :) What makes the Liric II's amazing is that they sound so open, despite being closed back. Which mean I can pretty much use them in every situation, other than when I do any sort of sport/exercise.

The new pads are perfect. :)

I've had mine done by Meze, as you rightly say wonderful customer service. I'd be interested to hear if you think the audio has changed for the better, I believe mine has. As for the Poets, I've bought them with one of the main reasons being this exemplary service.

They've been really good with me too. Was going through the dealer (HeadAmp) who went silent in me and stopped replying. Went directly to Meze and they have been great, am having the headphones picked up this week... from Fiji!

Hello everyone. Will Empyrean II be an upgrade after Liric 1? I love how dynamic and aggressive Lirics OG are, love the transparency. Will Empy 2 be a step up?
The Empy are in a different league to the Liric 1. Soundstage is going to be better simply because of the Empy are open back and the closed back Liric 1 are quite narrow in this respect. The Liric 2 is improved in this area. Have you considered the new Poets? Although most reviewers consider the Empyreans to be better of the two open back planars I consider the Poets to be the better of my two Meze cans with the Poets being the best overall headphones in my current collection.
