hey everyone, I have the option to purchase Liric II at €1750 (2 years warranty) vs Liric at €1100 ( 14 months warranty). Is the 2 worth the €650 premium over the 1? I know that value can be subjective but just curious if the 2 is that much better than the 1.

The concensus amongst reviewers is that the new Lirics are quite an improvement over the OG. The failings of the OG, especially in the treble, have been addressed and much improved. Build is slightly different with the detachable pads and a better 1.2m cable bundled with the new Liric.
I was very tempted with the OG but always somewhat held back with the comments about the treble and the fixed pads. With both now being addressed I had the Liric on home audition and was obviously impressed and am now a very happy owner.
The OGs have certainly dropped considerably in price which makes the OGs something of a bargain and is very tempting. I'd look at the reviews and comparisons made as those reviews did certainly sway me into taking a pair for audition and as I've said purchase them.
For my personal liking, the Liric 2 has way better tonal balance than the 1. Plus magnetic ear pads.

650 is quite a bit of money. I have the og liric and like it a lot. Then again, yes the liric 2 is probably better and more future proof with the magnetic earpads. I would hesitate twice if i had to make the choice.

I would say if you are currently flush with cash, I would think the Liric II would be the better way to go. As others have said, it is future proofing you a bit with the pads and it is the latest tuning.
I haven’t heard the Liric II but own two pairs of the OG and love them.
Personal speaking the only pro is the replaceable pads. I did not like the new tuning much myself thought it was not as enjoyable or energetic and was very odd in the mids and treble. But what do I know. I personally own the OG liric
Lots of valid points made here. The price drop on the OG is so tempting though. I’m going to pay a visit to the local hifi shop to listen for myself. Thanks for the input everyone.

Grabbed a set of OG Lirics with the Copper cable for 1200 CAD and felt like I got a steal, these are the nicest headphones I've owned ever. Paired with an EF400 right now and have no complaints, everything sounds super warm.
Currently I'm not running any EQ and havent had any rough patches with the treble, but I might look to tweak a little bit of the bass, are there any EQ profiles that I could jump off from if anyone else is running something different? I found that when I turned to Harman EVERYTHING felt muddy and sad.

I haven't found a PEQ for the Lirics that I enjoy very much. I have one from Amir, Chronos, and one other saved to my DSP in Roon ARC, but I greatly prefer my Lokius at work and Loki Max at home where I slightly trim the 2kHz and 6kHz frequencies and call it good for recordings that are a touch brighter. Other than that, I don't EQ.

I haven't felt the need to EQ it myself either, I guess that just proves the point not to follow something online without testing. So many people seem so down on the OG Lirics, but they've been fantastic.

Any recommendations on cables? I like the copper balanced 4.4mm that comes with them, but would like a nicer 3.5mm to go with the Mojo 2. Budget preferably under $250.

Same feelings here. I’m literally shocked every time I put on these headphones, from rediscovering new details in old records to simply enjoying new music.
