Not if you have a good bag and a good backpack. I use the the Tumi Alpha Bravo Esports Backpack when I travel. Which is perfect for carrying my laptop, iPad, Hugo 2, Cayin C9II and headphones. There are a number of esports backpacks that will work. You can also look into motorcycle backpacks some have protective shells.

All backpacks are not the same. You need to pick one appropriate for use just like tools. For your purpose look into esports or motorcycle backpacks.

I just sold mine. But yy backpack fit their carry case. But if I take two headphones I put in a protective bag to prevent scratches and place them in the compartment. I have The Tumi Alpha Bravo Esports Backpack Tumi Backpack. This one is high. But gives you an idea what mine looks like.

There are a lot of esports backpacks out there. These backpacks are specifically geared for gamers to bring their equipment on the go with them. It will work for audiophiles also. If you want to use any regular backpack keep using your case.

I meant what protective bag you use for the Lirics themselves

Had been swinging back and forth between E3 and Liric II, I finally ordered Liric II.
After reading and watching many reviews and comparisons of the two, since I can’t hear either,
I chose base on the better looking and construction of Liric II.
E3 might have patented new tech, but it looks bad to me.

Now you've made your decision the only thing left to do is enjoy them 😊

Does liric 2 take a large sub bass shelf well? Looking for an “upgrade” to my kennerton gjallahorn gh50s and these seem intriguing if they can transform into bass monsters with a 12 dB shelf at 20 hz via Loki and some good juice (Jot 2).

Once the kids came along, my time for music diminished so much that I went into a hiatus from everything hifi related. My first born was such a bad sleeper that I have basically no memories of the first two years. Only tiredness.
Fast forward to 2022, we went to High End Munich together and of all the wonderful headphones there, it was the Liric that got our attention. And Trifecta :)

Thanks to the wonderful people from Meze, I was able to walk home with both the Liric and 99 classics. And thus, Liric rekindled my fire, and since then it holds a special place on my heart.

I prefer the design and sound of the first generation to the second. Not that the second is bad, but the first is more to my liking. I like the lush sound, strong airy highs and the soundstage that sounds more like an open back. Strong mid bass, perfectly controlled sub bass, the epitome of hi-fi, for me. Not to mention how good they sound with a mobile setup.
I'm revisiting them tonight and getting the same vibes as the first time I've heard them.

I just love their understated elegance.

Any updates here? Interestingly, I just came across some info on the DCA E3 forum that those clip and distort with ifi xbass on. That makes them a total deal breaker for me, really hoping the liric 2 driver is more capable of playing subbass loud. I’m finding that a lot of high-end headphones seem to have this fatal flaw unfortunately.

Sort of narrowed down my upgrade path to:

Zmf atrium or caldera closed
Liric 2
Kennerton Rognir p or Arkona

Would really love to save some $$$ though if the liric 2 can turn into a bass monster, maybe similar to what I’ve read about the LCD-4.

Thanks!

I'm not a bass head but how deep does a plucked double bass go. My audition track for bass is off Jennifer Warnes' SACD Another Time, Another Place with track 2 being the tester. It opens with a plucked double bass and the Liric 2 handles it supremely well. The note and the decay is detailed and deep.

The op asking the question wants to add a 12db bass shelf at 20hz ... Why is beyond my understanding but in my experience almost anything will clip have distortion with that much of an increase.... But what do I know
