MEZE AUDIO ELITE - The New Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone - official thread

The Yamahas were too bright with not enough Bass for my taste. Crossed them off my list.

One headphone that make me curious the most. Based on what I heard on some vintage Yamaha's Ortho, most of them sound dark, full body, and really smooth treble. It's truly surprise (and sad) if YH5000 become even brighter than Elite.

but have you compared them to the Ca-1a + Star8 + Accurate sound filters? :p Or the Yamahas

So do you like Ca-1a more than SR1b?

Hi!

I recently got hold of the angled pads. After the first tests, and acording to my taste, I think that they do improve the hybrids, although I will have them on hand to change from time to time. What I have not been able to find is a graph of measurements with the angled pads. Do you know if there are any?

Thanks!

Measurements for the angled pads were shared in post #4,604.

Got a pair of Elite a few months ago and have been loving it. I like its sound as much as any other TOTL headphones I've demo'd. However, it does appear to be on the looser side (althought no complaints on how comfortable it is). Anyone have suggestions on ways to tighten the carbon fiber belt on the top?

Just received my Elites, enjoying greatly so far. I'm a bit confused as to which pads I received...can some post photos or descriptions as to how to distinguish OG Alcantera, Angled Alcantara and hybrid. Sincere thanks!

Hybrid is the thin leather looking one. OG Alcantera is flat thick fabric, while angled is also fabric looking and should be noticeably angled/uneven as an earpad.

Thank you. Is OG Alcantera ear opening symmetric oval all around rather than tapered narrower at the bottom portion?

Yep. The OG Alcantera is fully symmetrical and flat like the hybrids are (just 10mm thicker, and different material). Angled Alcantera you will immediately notice there is a difference. In terms of dimensions, I believe it was 35mm thick on one side (same as OG) and 25mm thick on the other (same as Hybrid).

I am curious how you compare them to mm-500? Is it big jump and do you feel the Elites noticeable upgrade and in what areas :D For example I really love the sub-bass of the mm's also I boost it for 3-4db so I am not sure will I loose something with Elites if I get them.

MM500 is more intimate and narrow in presentation, imagine a pair of near field speaker in studio. Elite is like a floorstand Sonus Faber speaker.

Audeze is drier, closer to being plain, with tighter decay through all spectrum and a bit at more mid centric side. Elite deliver big and airy imaging, with sweet tone, fuller body and impact on bass notes, while also deliver more brilliance on treble area too.

Here are some beauty pics of my Elite and Empyrean (currently for sale). I'll write up a comparison soon as I've had the chance to listen to both of these extensively with all the pads!

Gunmetal - my favourite. Empyrean sounds thicker, which suites better in certain moods, but Elite is more refined in general.

sounds like there is place for both in collection :) I now like my mm's because of the details and flatness if I can call it that way. Especially because I like to discover new tracks and add to collection the flat hp is really good tool for that. But Elite curiosity is going for some time :)

Give some R2R and tubes to the Elite and they sound plenty thick/euphonic with all the airiness/details the Empyrean is uncapable of reproducing due to its thicker diaphragm. Saying this as someone who owned and still appreciates the Empyrean.
