I'd be a little surprised if they don't extend the drop again given that they were limiting it to 5,000 and they barely eclipsed 1/4 of that when the drop ended.

If it’s true that Sennheiser developped a new driver for these headphones, be assured that they will not discontinue the product after only a first try at the pre-prod step of its development. There will be other drops of these and/or Sennheiser will commercialize this as a new model for other lines of sales (HD605S or whatever they may call it). One way or the other we will hear more from these. And I hope Sennheiser/Massdrop will be able to give an update on the bass extension demand/promise made to Massdrop’s customers. We will soon see.

It's going to be interesting to see how they will use these drivers. In HD 59x style frame (and angled) this could be interesting. The frequency response and THD in specs is identical and the driver size too which makes me wonder if they plan to do something like HD 599 S. Also considering that there once was 120 ohm HD 595 version...

I decided to buy Hd58x even though I have HD6xx coz I miss bigger stage and treble and dynamics but to my surprise they are not available for Asian countries to ship. Anyway, money saved. I am pretty sure Massdrop is working on a Hd8xx, maybe I should save for that.

If this happens and they come out with an HD8XX, my wife is going to kill me. She was already pissed when I put my payment in for the 58X Jubilee's. Lol

I joined the first drop, then canceled, but now I've joined again.

My latest rationalization is that worse case I can use the HD58X for spare parts on my other HD580/HD/HD650 phones, or even put a spare set of HD650 drivers I have in them.

Next I just need the HD660S to complete the family - though I'll wait until they're $300 or less.
