What do you think of the K812?

To the top with the Mighty Mikros 90!

k812....v good spatial cues, huge soundstage bordering hd800 territory.
Yet it kinda has a CLOSED can feel ..as to the LIMITs of the sound, that privacy..
not as if the sound went out and it gotten lost. 
( like a HUGE HUGE closed can.. am i nuts? ...i love closed cans )
 
Paired with the Audiogd s/s amp it hasnt place a foot wrong....vocals/jazz/classicals all good.
but on the tube amps, Copland's Fanfare to the Common Man was in tatters on those bass opening notes...sighh...need to find a tube amp that handles low impedence cans better.

Had a SUPERB last-night listen with the Mikros 90 [bhazard stock pair with Teds UPOCC copper cable] and the new Aural Thrills BCS (active) interconnects [with teflon-silver upgrade].  Soundstage is very BIG, with lots of detail and great separation.  
 
As always, the Mikros 90 function like a precise lab instrument: faithfully cataloguing the effects of system changeover.  These cables show excellent promise--and on my most modest source gear!
 
The MLs are my GO-TO portables for sure.  Had the K812 and the Oppo PM-1 at-the-ready, but did not even think about reaching for either during last night's session.  (Tonight might be a different story, though!)

havent been listening to the mikros for a season, 
too caught up with searching for a killerdac...
but my bullet$$$ are quite insufficient..lol

A while ago I asked which aftermarket pads would be most loyal to the stock sound...Now I have tried many pads but all have sounded bad. So which pads that can be easily bought sound the best? I would gladly buy a new pair but since I'm in EU it is not that easy. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say this here but if someone has an extra pair of mikros and is willing to ship those to EU give me a PM.

A container of MIkros might be a bit excessive but I could actually use couple of pairs. I have a spare Sony MDR-SA5000 housing waiting for drivers. Mikros drivers are too small but it is not something that can't be delt with. SA5000 has one of the finest parts I've ever seen so it would be awesome thing to try. Mikros drivers+magnesium frame+angled baffle+lambskin pads
