Made a metal RS-1 style ring (gimbal) for my RS-2 should I paint it black?

I reckon cut then spray so the whole thing is black. The other way around the insides of the hole and cable cut out will still be silver coloured too.

Post some pictures when you're done! :)

I'll do that might be a couple of days (I'm a college student and am currently in the process of trying to find a drill to borrow)... that said if anyone is located near St Louis and would like to help me out that would be excellent.

yup, flat(matte) black is the way to go, aluminum/silver is more suitable for a 325i or ps1000

good luck!

Sand it from 320 grit sandpaper to 600 grit, then all the way up to 1000 grit. Then spray it with an anodized black spray paint.

Then you'll get a metal that looks like it was black metal to begin with.

I'll be doing a mod similar to this as well except I'm using copper instead.

Thanks, I was worried about getting a painted look this sounds like a nice solution!  Send me some pictures of yours when you're done or post them here

That's just wonderful.
I totally mistook them as the stock forks, but much better.
