I decided to start to make the metal gimbal replacement for the plastic yokes that come on the RS-2 here are some pictures of what I've got so far (I still need to drill the holes for the pegs and metal rod that attaches to the L R blocks)

The question is do you guys think they would look better spray painted black or should I leave them with the brushed aluminum look?

Also I found the guide to do this here: http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/436898/moded-my-rs2-a-little-i-think-they-look-better/15

A metal finish one would look great on an MS2, HF2, SR325, or a PS1000, for anything else - spray it black.

Are you going to cut out a circular or square indent for the cable?

Or actually use wood, an idea Bilavideo had been playing with and looks pretty good so far.

The guy who did the mod the OP linked to used brass which looked pretty fitting as well.

I think I'm gonna do a square indent for the cable
yeah I think I will do black ... should I spray first then cut the holes or cut then spray?

I reckon cut then spray so the whole thing is black. The other way around the insides of the hole and cable cut out will still be silver coloured too.

Post some pictures when you're done! :)

It does not have to be black.

black for sure. It matches the dark-coloured mahogany. There's a reason why the metal screen is painted black instead of leaving it a shiny aluminum. The metallic colour would better match something like the sr 225 or sr 325
