Hi to all,
 
 I need a quick compare of these 2 pairs.  Overall sound quality, bass quality.
 
 
 Which is better  ?                      
 
 XB700 cost me ~ 127$    
 Q40 cost me ~ 90$
 
 
 I listen mainly to hip hop music.
 
 
 
Do q40 need an amp ?

I'd concider XB500 rather than XB700, it's more suitable for such genre it'll have better bass for hip-hop cuz it's quite a bit more punchy/have bigger impact and bassier overall, the sound is more forward/warm than XB700, especially mids, highs are smoother, on XB700 they can be quite bright. I definitely think XB500 sounds better than XB700 but that's just my subjective opinion but I'm not the only one either.
 
Don't know about Q40 but XB700 needs an amp IMO, XB500 doesn't (XB700 is rated max 3000mW and XB500 1500mW power draw). Also $127 is very expensive when u can find them online for about $80 these days and XB500 for $50~60

The prices I have listed are with included shipping.    I don't live in USA so shipping is quite expensive to my country.
 
 For ex.  for the XB700 shipping is ~ 35$-40$ (different sellers)
 
the online price of Q40 in USA is around  120$-150$ (with shipping would be ~ 190$)  
but I found it for  90$ at sale (including shipping) from an Europe seller so I consider it a nice deal.
 
 
That's why I'm asking maybe it's better to buy the q40 than XB700.
 
I need an advice from someone that had listened them both and can explain me the difference.

I have the XB700s
I find them with good highs that arent too bright (considering i use sony in ears on the move which are the brightest of brights). 
Their sounds are pretty balanced with an emphasis on bass, but not exaggerating. Mids are recessed, you might have to turn it up to hear vocals. They'll do decent without an amp, I dont use one, but it feels it can do a lot better with one.
 
Never heard the Q40s.
