LZ-A4 Impressions and Discussion Thread

I'm not sure how kickstarter exactly works, but I'd suggest launching the A5 on that site to get much more global exposure ?

I'd love to see the A5 taking the kind of ASG 2.5 idea further - that is to say a large high-quality neodymium 16mm PET cone with a BA that can take it into monster quality controlled textured bass if the RED/black combo cannot do that in A4.
Of course it does not appeal to everyone, but it is a niche that has a strong following.

Kickstarter or sth the like is a good idea in the furture.
Let's see how the market respond to the A4.

Personally, I like the A4 a lot. A killer for pop. The smooth texture of A3 remains with extra details, more precise positioning, and larger soundstage. It's much better than the prototype.

Great. A right move making the A4 low-profile. I couldn't use the A3 on the street. LOL

Ha ha, yeah. I agree with Tamal, they're very comfortable to wear both up and down.

Great to hear the ergonomics have been improved. That's been one of my few beefs with the A2, A2S and the A3S - they've all had a tendency to slip out of my ears, slowly reducing the bass until I realize it's all gone and push them back in. Very much looking forward to your comparison to the PM4 Peter!

Different type of tips. For previous stock tips, only the one in black suits me.

The vocal position of A4 now is more natural, compared with previous models. It's still close, but no longer feel like someone is singing in the middle of your head. It's a significant upgrade to A3. After listening to A4, I can't change back to A3/A2S. My ears become picky...
Just like A3, I think a headphone amp is necessary to realise A4's potential.

Me too ;)

After about two hours with them in my ears (having only used the black and red back filters and the blue front filter) I like what I hear.

People looking for extreme details, sparkling highs and an overall brightish signature need not apply. The sound from the A4 made me think of the Aurisonics Rockets when I first put them in my ears. They sound very mature, lush, smooth, laid back and even while still having enough resolution and details to be entertaining. I doubt many people will be wowed by these at first listen but I bet a lot will like them for a long time.

It's still very early impressions and only with two different filter combinations so please take this with a grain of salt and as initial thoughts.

Since you mention the Rockets, then they are perhaps also in the same street as the Super Audio 6? I rather liked those, but wished they had a bit better extension at the lower end.

May be its just the filters?

After the A2S which I was bitterly disappointed with I wasn't sure what to expect with the A4. OOTB using black (rear) and red (nozzle) holy ballz color me impressed.

That design looks so goofy. Love it.
Does it retain the lower midrange forward signature from the A3 and A2S?

I've had little time to experiment so far but I can tell you that different filter combinations can make a huge difference in the sound. I feel like it could be days before I find my favorite setup.
