Hey guys,

I've been Jamming to my M-50's for the last few months and I absolutely love the sound and feel of these things. Right now I'm listening to some Jazz and Orchestra music and I was just wondering if there were headphones on the market with a soundstage that would make the instruments feel as if they were being played in the room around me. Got any suggestions?

Thanks :)

Heard many good things about those cans, but maybe i should narrow down what i'm looking for.
1. $200 Price range
2. Easy availability
If i'm not mistaken, i believe the AKG K1000's have been discontinued ):

Though I won't hear them until Tuesday and properly (150-200 hours or burn in) hear them until... who knows... the k701 is supposed to have fairly decent soundstage (not to mention detail).  And I have to agree, the K1000 is the ultimate for soundstage.

Someday... someday I'll own a pair.

Ignore EVERYONE ELSE

What YOU need are the Sony MDR-F1 headphones, you can pick up a pair from $100-$150, they are super crazy open air, not K1000 crazy, but crazy, based on my experience with the K1000's I feel the F1's have better bass. They are picky about amping, but creative sound cards power them well. I use a pair with my computer.

Find a used K-501. Much, much better than a K-701 and it's under your budget.

Still, the K-1000 is the king of soundstage. Look into dipole speakers, too.

Oddly enough I found the DT990/600 to have a much superior soundstage to the AD700, but only when amped.  I've heard the HD598s as well, and those have a pretty wide one, but I feel it could have been better with more treble emphasis.

Wish I could hear some AKGs, though I probably wouldn't take kindly to their bass.

^ This.

I have a MDR-F1; they have one of the most expansive soundstage I've ever heard. I believe someone is selling theirs in the FS section, but I don't know if it's sold or not.
