I have just purchased a Musical Fidelity X-Can v3 and think it's time to upgrade my faithful HD414s, but have been out of head-Fi for a while as my Copland has no headphone socket.

Looking to spend around $300, so looking for suggestions

Thanks

I've been to a Can Jam, Chi Unifi, and heard a lot at stores. I tend to prefer closed headphones most of the time. Even after hearing just about all the most expensive flagships. My favorite right now is this Yamaha Pro 400 that I sorta gambled on. I've left a lot of detailed comments about them in various threads. The Amperiors and K550s are other favs of mine. For open phones I only really listen to my K701. My RS-1, HF2, HD 558,and DT990 barely get used. It's not because they suck or anything. I'm just not big on open phones in general.
