When you say usb interference are you talking about when connecting an external dac?
Don't recall hearing any kind of interference from the V10 unless I was toggling 4G LTE on/off with an external dac connected.

no, that is when connected to a charger or computer, the 3.5mm output is interfered.

it might not be that loud with a low sensitivity load, or it might be an individual problem with the V10 i tested.

V10 is quite noisy with sensitive iem, but not V20 to my ears.

yes. then it is not an individual problem.

but with screen off and usb unplugged, they exhibit similar noise floor which is very low, V20 is about 2db lower.

This might complicate things for you, but V4A is now up to version 2.5.0.5. And it has a dedicated build for Android 7.x devices--although that's still not a guarantee of it working with every phone. It comes with the territory of trying to apply systemwide audio effects when everything about Android is more and more about locking each and every app in their own safe little cocoon... :frowning2:

Here's a list of resources...

The big news about 2.5.0.5 is it allows simulation of loudspeaker soundstage using cross-channel convolution. See here for details.

Thanks for the clarification!

My pleasure.

I think we are seeing good intentions in conflict, because the programmers whose apps check the supported sample rates of the DAC through the Android audio API do so to ensure that they don't damage the DAC by hitting it with audio streams it doesn't actually support.  You can destroy PCM DAC's with DSD streams, for example, and they clearly want to prevent that.

LG's intention appears to be to make the system as simple as possible since Android isn't really designed to handle multiple internal DACs, yet their simple approach with a good intention has us seeing the downside of this implementation on hires playback.

The best resolution would be for LG to simply expose ALL of the supported bit-depths and sample rates for whichever of the two DACs is currently active on V10s and V20s through the standard Android audio API, based on the user's selection in the special enabling system app and the H/O being plugged in.  Then all the apps that correctly protect the DAC, and therefore currently re-sample to 16/48, will suddenly see the ES9218 depths and rates and no longer resample when you have it in Hifi mode, except those DSD & PCM streams that the ES9218 doesn't actually support.  It also appears that the Snapdragon 820 may support many rates and depths besides 16/48 as well.  Either way, LG should simply update the enabling app to interface correctly with the Android audio API so we can all enjoy the features at their maximum capabilities.

After bootloop of death which brick the device problem in G4, V10 and G5, LG repeats the same mistake in the glorious V20

Maybe it was an attempted root to install V4A.

Nope. In V10, G4, G5 bootloop bricks was caused by Snapdragon CPU overheating issue. It renders devices non repairable, you can't reflash or whatsoever, just throw them to the trash or get a replacement from carriers. There's a high chance V20 had the same problem. It's amazing to me that LG has managed to screw it up again and again.

Well, here's to hoping it is a small subset of users and I'm one of the ones not affected.
