LG G3 as a portable source?

Can't say that I'm too sure either, other than that this would reduce perceived pressure on the jack plug...

Odd that it is called a splitter, but there is only one socket??

I had the same thought. Why is it called a splitter? I use these things - but actual splitters - on PC's to preserve the audio 3.5mm jack.

The jack on the G3 might be starting to go but i don't think a splitter is a good solution to use when the phone is in my front pocket. And Bluetooth isn't an alternative yet...

Tried this phone against my M8 and the bass just lacked impact. :(

Also tried an iPhone 6 Plus and that sounded pretty good.

This was from some Grado 325s.

I wanted to like the G3 as those bezels and the camera is as great, but the colors were very subdued along with that artificial sharpness.

Are there any kernels or rooms that fix those issues?

Maybe that is what I mean when I say that the G3 sounds bright to me, maybe I've just got my definition backwards...

Not really thought of it that way until you mentioned this - agreed with this line completely

i think anything going up against a Beats marketed product is going to sound like it lacks bass

Agreed. I joined the G3 club just yesterday, and the WhatHiFi review was pretty accurate: Clean sound, if a little on the dull side. Naturally, it plays nice with my Yamaha EPH-100, but the impact isn't quite there in comparison to my Note 3.

Do you still have the Note 3? You are saying that you can tell the difference in SQ G3 vs. Note 3? Can you try a blind test? I doubt that the G3's SQ  is any better or any worse than any other top tier smartphone - iPhone 6, Galaxy S5, Sony X2, etc etc.

Please note, also, that 'dull' does not necessarily mean 'worse'. I don't dislike it; It may have to do with the fact that my Note's running CM12 with a fauxsound-enabled kernel, but there's just a bit more punch to my ears.

Since it's all about personal experience, I am not particularly concerned about whether you agree.

that's what i'm thinking.  i have a galaxy S3, G3 and ipod classic 30GB and don't recall any big differences.  i'll have to A/B them again.  isn't there a chart in this thread that compares the smartphones?  if i recall correctly, the M8 was the clear winner and G3 was 2nd.

MisterCats thanks for your explanation. A different ROM can explain things. I have no doubt that the Note has more "punch."

I'm still on stock ROM - the G3 - for warranty reason...

Alright, here are the results.
With my RHA 750s, they sound fine as far as I can tell, however my luck did not fare to well with other headphones. My Audio Technica CK 55s were given an awful hiss in the left channel at any volume lower than a few notches from max. My Sony MDR7506 were given the same thing in the right channel for god knows why...

there is no LG official solution to the "awful hiss in the left channel" issue till now !

can't understand why such a huge South Korean company won't cope with this.

anyway, people have their tricky ways to handle it XD

i hate LG
