LG G3 as a portable source?

You may have a defective phone. There are issues with defective component isolation causing sound problems in earlier models.

Was new one. Battery was datet with 09/2014.
IMEI SV: 07 (this is the rev, or not?)
Kernel: 3.4.0
Software Version: V10h-EUR-XX (newer one)

Not i got the replacement:
IMEI SV: 07
Battery datet with 07/2014 and firmware was first (V10a..)

Same Problem, with 4.4.2 its little noise, with 5.0 heavy noises (little better than last one), when starting app..

And yes, booth are free eu versions (germany), my fiend have no problems (but still on kitkat, buyed via ebay, dunno what Country it cames). Have every eu-version this problem with the isolation? When yes, ****, when not, hat rev i must buy,

EDIT:

hidden Menu: (3845#*855#) ->settings->Versions Info say:
HW* Version = Rev1.0.    *Hardware?

Is this one from the early versions? Think i know the question^^ (got times ago an pc mainboard rev 0.9...)

Option:
1) I can try order me 5 other from amazon and hope one is ok

2) ship to LG support for repair (when its possible), and have some weeks no handy,
and with 90% chance it came back as before..

PS: Is there an offical ancouncment from LG about this and what hardware is affected?
(only with SN 40xxx to 41xxxx)

It looks like only the US/Canada versions is sounding good, European version has mediocre sound quality

Does anyone having European G3 (855) experienced good sound quality?

Is there an compare test what confirm this? Have the eu version other hardware like dac or something?

Mine is revision 1.0 and I got it early in the product life cycle...

Definitely my first and last LG handset, nothing really impresses me, screen was good until Samsung trumped it, audio to these ears, poor... Shame

I'm very happy with the sound on my G3, but as I mentioned some have hardware problems. My guess, from what I've read, is the Android phone with the best sound is the HTC M8, but the camera is fair.

How many G3's did you try? You can't try a single one and extrapolate from that that all G3's have bad SQ. What Android phone DO you think have good sound?

Please explain "poor audio" - Static? Artifacts? B dynamic range? I'm not doubting you but need more info.

Posted earlier in the thread, bright, brittle, sibilance inducing sound, just not my sound at all, the M8 definitely gets my vote for 2014, just a shame that I sold it on before they fixed the clipping issues.

As to how many G3s I've listened to, only the one, the one I own, that was enough to put me off :)

I saw where you said "Maybe I just don't like the overly bright nature (which would be odd IMO, knowing my preferences) of the tone..." - I

and later...  "audio to these ears, poor..."

I respect your opinion, I'm not an LG fanboy, but I think many (most?) of us will be more than satisfied with the SQ of the G3. I see why you also asked if equalizers were used. I use EQ when I can, and do, for music stored on my phone. Using Gr07 the sibilance is there with some music, and I do need to adjust EQ.  Just wish I could when streaming over SMB share

Thanks for clarifying things.

Bright = poor when it makes darker toned music sound thin...

All IMO of course :)

I got my g3 last week, EU version 855 and SQ terrible with loud popping noises btwn songs and severe 'static' noises when touchscreen used, etc.
Compared to s5 wich sounds amzingly 'clean' in comparison. So disappointed... Weirdly sounds OK with handsfree headsets with build-in mic. Only Aux cable connection or normal headphone connections seem affected? Sending it back tomorrow.... Hopefully the online vendor will accept it as faulty... Fingers crossed....

I'm not an audiophile but am very sensitive to artifacts, glitches and static, etc. What you're describing is similar to the anecdotal accounts that I've read about sound issues caused by an early manufacturing flaw - lack if insulation of components. As long as not sold "as is" they have to take it back. What date was it manufactured?

My copy of the G3 has flawless sound. Nothing like what you describe. I'm listening to it right now with V-Sonic GR07. Good luck and keep us posted.

Tried one in store last week and was greeted by stunning bursts of static that came and went. I could not figure out what was going on nor was i interested.

Decided to stay away from that otherwise great phone. Used to iPhones i can not stand this kind of weird stuff going on.

Bad luck, LOL. There is no widespread issue with sound and the G3. If there was, on forums like this:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3 it would have been mentioned.

Like anything electronic device - there can be a lemon. Like I've said many times here - no sound issue with my G3, and that is the norm.

There are problems with AUX - using G3 via the audio AUX connection in a car. I think that has been straightened out but I never needed to use my G3 with a car audio system.

Actually there's a long thread on XDA about hissing on one channel and it has not been fixed to the date. May be all the posters there have had bad luck but still i won't take the chance to have bad luck.

I use iPhones since 2009 and never ever have run into a hissing thread cause there is not any to be found.

You mentioned the popping/artifacts in your first post, the G3 tried at the shop. I'm familiar with the thread on XDA - left channel hissing - and again - not a widespread problem. I tested my own phone using the balance in the System settings and no problem with my device.

Also, check out this forum:

Sound (other than the AUX issue) is not a problem for the vast majority of G3 users. The iPhone has had it's share of defects over the years, I'm sure you've read about those. When buying a G3 or any phone, a sound issue is unacceptable. That's why I recommend that it be purchased with a warranty - from manufacturer, Squaretrade, etc and most important the right to return if a defective unit is received. If sound is the PRIMARY (most important) attribute of an Android phone, the HTC M8 should be considered. The sound is arguably better than the G3. And as @Duncan mentioned in a prior post, not everyone likes the sound of the G3. If someone doesn't find the SQ of a working G3 phone to be acceptable - I won't argue with that!

I am literally sitting here with both the iPhone 6+ and the LG G3. Both sound just incredible. No hissing.

i get hissing on my G3 only between songs when paired with e11.  but that is just interference between the two, and happened with my old S3 too.   with headphones directly paired with g3 i get no static, hiss or poppin.  but i keep it poppin son

To check, 'paired' means plugged in, or, as more commonly associated, via Bluetooth?
