You are probably already aware of Earache's full dynamic range editions of multiple classic DM albums from the likes of Carcass, Entombed, Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death and At the Gates (https://earache.bandcamp.com/). Wolverine Blues is one of my all-time favorite albums and the FDR edition manages to elevate it even further.
Oh yeah, somehow omitted Colored Sands. As a general rule, if Colin Marston mixed/mastered/otherwise influenced a record, you will notice and appreciate it.
Well most agree that still it depends how stuff was recorded to start with. I'm listening to some new 320kps song of dance music and maybe because it is direct with no microphone it sounds amazing.
I even have Venom's Black Metal on vinyl, there last two albums and some greatest hits disks, still I try and try, but there is a wall between us.
Though the first song on their last album is pretty good.
The issue is I know of 5000 other pieces of music I would much rather listen to.
Not purely DM or BM but Lord Mantis' latest sounds superb for the sound they were going for. Not going to have an amazing DR but man their instruments sound killer.

That was many a members favorite last year. One of the most crazy and dark records I have heard in a while, and that is saying a lot being scary in the extreme metal genre.

Yes I think it was here that I actually first heard about them. It's just so punishing and abrasive. The whole album could have awful production and it would still be one of my favorites.

Just an amazing album, one of my favorites ever. It sounds ok production wise I guess for what it is...if you haven't, check out pervertor which was a different but also amazing album (2012). Their debut spawning the nephelim was nothing to write home about IMO
Im a massive fan, I'd even go so far as to say they are one of the most underrated extreme bands out right now. Unfortunately they've lost the vocals/lyrics so even if the next album is great it'll never recapture that tortured evil that was Charlie

It may be a subject which is hard to come to terms with here, the fact that 90% of the early 1990s extreme recordings suffer from both muddy and thin production values. The truly amazing thing was it added to the underground and outlaw feel. The fact that no record company would ever touch these acts and place them in a proper studio. Their crappy solid-state cheap Peavy guitar amps didn't help matters, yet the albums had a vibe like no others.
Place on the back a night-time flash photograph of band members in corpse paint, hand draw a gothic pen and ink frame around the photo and the aesthetic is sealed.

Will do! I did not know they lost their vocalist, he's incredible so that sucks. Saw they are getting some dudes from Indian, who definitely have a similar style and also rule(d?). Could still could make some great music, it just won't quite be the same.
Every time I throw on Death Mask I just stop whatever I'm doing and listen, it rules.
