I know you're supposed to remove the jumpers if you're using the amp with low-impedance headphones, but what exactly do they do? Is it just a gain switch or does it somehow manage some sort of impedance matching?

I just changes the gain.

Well, I've tried both ways with different impedance headphones and have never noticed any kind of sound quality changes. I would guess that having the jumper set improperly, would create more distortion when running the amp at a high output. One thing is for sure, for a small amp, I love how mine works with my Senn HD-650s and HD-580s on high gain. Russian power tubes and Mullard driver tubes and it's ready to rock!

Yeah, it's amazing how much of an improvement tube rolling makes with the LDII++. I'm surprised this fact was not talked about more widely.
