Last song before you die...

Oh crud I just thought of some more contenders

Ride of the Valkyries-Wagner( I mean, what a way to go out, right? Kind of ironic too such a thrilling piece for the end, rather than the climax)
Mr. Blue Sky-ELO
Graceland - Paul Simon

Oh god I don't know. I suppose part of me says that it would be something from the band Anberlin, as they are, and have been for a very long time, my favorite group. However, another part of me says I should try to find something more epic...but I don't know what and would probably run out of time.

Moonsorrow - Sankaritarina (Warrior's Tale)

Finnish to English translation:

"Cattle die,
kinsmen die,
likewise you will die;
but the name
will never die,
of one who has done well.

Cattle die,
kinsmen die,
likewise you will die;
one I know
that never dies:
the fame of each one dead."
(Hávamál)

And so the last chapter is at hand,
who faced his death now rests on his place.
His brothers raise a chalice of mead
and drink it empty in the name of the late.

A craft so beautiful now may carry a peaceful man,
on the shore it awaits release into what lies beyond.
Weapons, jewels, riches the traveller is armed with,
underneath a vast pyre his grave will soon be sailing.
(And behold! Can there be another sight so grand
than of silent flames reaching out for the stars.)

Towards death we all are lead;
the gods have chosen those to live.
Our brother we lay on the lap of the waves;
fare ye well, you stay in our hearts.

Honour no sword can tame;
the gods have recited the heroic names.
Our brother we yield to the father of the dead;
fare ye well - until we meet again."

Actually, that wouldn't be a bad one to go out on, I mean his electric guitar version the Star Spangled Banner itself. I love baseball, so it would be cool to have a voice over from Jack Buck saying "play ball" at the end of it. Afterall, life is just a game. Why should death be any different?

I dunno for myself. I think it would depend on me mood. maybe some Joy Division. maybe Swingin Party or something else by The Replacements.

I dunno but hopefully I'll have some Grado's, MicroAmp and an iPod packed full of files to choose from. sitting up against an old Oak tree out in da woods somewhere q:O)-~ it up.

Good choice. I think it would help me go out with a laugh.

if i was about to die, i would go say goodbye to my family and friends, not listen to one last song. It'd be cool if i could have Mike Oldfield Tubular Bells Part 2 playing as my soundtrack when I was saying farewell

Morbid, yet interesting!

"Snow" by Loreena McKennitt, for me....

(Story behind it)

I had a "catharctic" experience with this song a while back. Working in a company, job role changed dramatically and not to my liking, and was implementing new software that caused as much harm as good. Working 13-14 hour days for something I didn't believe in.

Stress was affecting me physically, was not feeling well. I came home one night, turned the lights out and this song came on. I shed a bunch of tears, they just came rolling down my face. Felt a wonderful calmness afterwards, though.

I'll never forget that moment, and the simple beauty of that song. It inspired me to look harder for a new job, which I got in a matter of weeks.
