Will be waiting patiently.

And patient you will have to be - I will have no more to say until after 100 hours burn in time. I listened to them very briefly. They were very comfortable, and basically sounded good. That's it until they are broken in. No point in making a bunch of analysis on a moving target!

Little update.
My mum came by today and did a test on the Kenwood, the Denon and the GS1000.
She prefered the Kenwood. GS1000 came second. Denon were dismissed.
She knows what she's talking about, her favourite headphones are the DX1000 and the other (AKG) K1000.
Just so you know.

Kees, how long did you feel these needed to break in?

I still find the D2000's to be significnatly more comfortable than the Kenwoods. I just can't get a grip for the extremely flat pads..

I agree, the Denons are more comfortable. But the Denons are perhaps the most comfortable headphone ever made

In early impressions, I find my 300+ hour Denon's sound much better in the bass department, and are similar across the board. I also find (yet early) that there seems to be a "light" blanket over the K1000's bass. I don't know how to explain it, but the K1000 bass is a lot flatter, abet close in quantity and quality. In the about 2 hours I've listened, I much prefer the D2000's, and NO I am not being partial. I am extremely honest in my impressions. Considering how much more the K1000's cost, the D2000's present extremely high value.

Yes they are. I will post my a little more detailed impression likely tomorrow, however it won't be as nearly as good as Rob writes. Afterall, this will be my first "serious" attempt at doing this.

I must have defective D2000......I find them lacking in the bass department. Big time. They have less bass than ANY other phone I own.

Yeah, definitely defective IMO. The Denons are not "bass shy" by any means. A lot of people say they have too much bass.. The Denons, reported by some, have much tighter bass than the 650's as well, which I see you also own. I hated the 650's when I owned them, so I can't attest to that.

Also damping the driver unit and cup tightens the bass in the Denons via the Markl mod.

Kees, double check your D2000s. No bass?
