@John Massaria Hey there! I bought a modded JM GH40 version https://www.head-fi.org/classifieds...n-jm-edition-mk1-with-extra-fuzzy-pads.27852/ of yours and i cant wait to try them out. Just wanted to ask would replacing the earpads affect the mod by any chance? i usually do this with all my used headphones, but ive never bought a modded one before. Is it ok if use another set of earpads on them or do i have to use the one existing on them already?

You can replace the ear pads on them. All the modded stuff is inside the cup/over the driver. So there is no real risk in screwing up the mod by replacing the pads.

Just got the GH50 today straight from Russia. Out of the box, the headphone seal is definitely lacking. So I had to bend the headband for the headphones to have an adequate seal. After that... Oh boy its AMAZING! Thank you all for the suggestions. Im loving these cans. By the way, all new GH50s are JM mk1 modded.

I bought them at the beginning of the year from a Polish distributor. No duty, fees because we are both in the EU. Also JM mod.

If you look on the Kennerton website there are still regular GH50s listed, the non-JM modified versions. Maybe all current new production of GH50s are JM modified but there are still regular GH50 models available. Personally I think the JM versions have enough bass as it is and would not be interested in a +4 db bass shelf of the regular GH50 but I guess that I like the bass improvement in the Mark 2 versions modified by JM himself. I also have a pair of Rognir Planars, bass increased versions, and now when I go back to the JM2s they sound too bass prominent and closed in by comparison. Whatever you get used to I guess.

Mine didnt have the JM mod logo on the headband but it did have the fluffy furniture feet inside. Apparently the sales rep from kennerton told me that since the beginning of 2022, they made the standard version the JM mod mk1.

OH you meant the normal JM version! I thought you meant the JM MK2 mod was being sold now, and not that the original GH50 was being discontinued

Maybe they just mistook the JM Edition for the normal GH50? Which colour did you buy? The cheaper standard colours of the JM edition come with leather cover on the headband so you have less microphonic effects. Only the expensive colours like Baltic Sea come without leather cover. At least that's how it is on the Kennerton webpage.

Kennerton still makes the normal GH50 as far as Information I have. They are making the GH50 JM Mk1 Edition at their factory but the GH50 Mk2 is not available anywhere except through John in New York as of this date.
The Vali neo is available as a regular factory tuned version from Kennerton or through John as JM Mk1 - only John can do the fractal fiberglass mesh - which is patent pending. The tuning John does is more unique and involved than just the fractal mesh and requires hours to do the mods making it cost prohibitive for most people and factories to be cost effective. The Rognir is quite easy to drive and I imagine it well sound great on a portable.

Sounds good on a Mojo 2. Easy to drive and manageable impedance so it doesn’t need a lot of power.

Možno si len pomýlili JM Edition s normálnym GH50? Akú farbu si si kúpila? Lacnejšie štandardné farby edície JM sa dodávajú s koženým poťahom na čelenku, takže máte menej mikrofónnych efektov. Iba drahé farby ako Baltské more sú bez koženého krytu. Aspoň tak je to na webovej stránke Kennerton.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to post to say that @John Massaria upgraded my GH 50's to version 2 and man these are amazing. I'm absolutely in love with these and now have no future plans to purchase any further closed back headphones.
