maybe a designer of kennerton could tell us
Thanks for the detailed info as always Eric! I have the Vali 2019 and love the sound signature and the organic timbre that they have.Hi Jean-Pierre.
Imho, the Vali 2021 (with its electrodynamic driver with graphene membrane) will have a more balanced frequency response (FR) than the old Vali 2019 (and its electrodynamic driver with paper membrane), with notoriously more clarity and brilliance in the frequency range 2 KHz to 10 KHz and with a better balanced midrange, at least if we take as reference curve (recognized) that of the Utopia for these two FR curves.
Vali 2019 (pads ECL-01) versus Focal Utopia (FR)
Vali 2021 (prototype) (pads ECL-01) versus Focal Utopia (FR)
In addition, I think that the greater technicality of the "graphene" driver of the Vali 2021 will bring more precision and resolution (in addition to more clarity) compared to the old "paper" driver of the Vali 2019.
more clarity and brilliance but what about bass? Does it go lower or is there a loss at this level with the graphene driver
Looks like the Vali 2021 got more bass than the Vali 2019 and the Utopia. The graphene driver can slam very hard with great clarity.sorry eric but i don't know how to interpret the curves, can you tell me a little more
Hi again, Jean-Pierre.sorry eric but i don't know how to interpret the curves, can you tell me a little more
Seems like the Vali sounds significantly better than the Utopia.and most likely, too, more speed and resolution (with the graphene driver).

For bass (level), look at the two FR curves (above) of the Vali 2019 versus Utopia and the Vali 2021 versus Utopia and you will see which of these two headphones has the most bass level (compared to the Focal Utopia)
(Nb: the FR curves are normalized to the frequency 1 KHz = 0 dB relative)
Well, althought Im a big fan of Kennerton and the 2019 vali, can't judge two headphones based on a graph IMHO.Seems like the Vali sounds significantly better than the Utopia.
However I am no fan of the bright focal tunings in general.
Do you also habe graphs versus Susvara, Empyrean or LCD4?
Totally agree, you can't judge headphones based in graphs.Well, althought Im a big fan of Kennerton and the 2019 vali, can't judge two headphones based on a graph IMHO.

Hi All, sorry if I missed it, but has anyone done a FR comparison of the Thekk and the Roginr?
Yeah I got you, Im sure that it would fit my preferences better too.Totally agree, you can't judge headphones based in graphs.
My Statement was just based on the fact that according to the graph the kennerton Vali has more Bass and mid presence and less treble energy, which is important for my sound preferences.
Still doesn't tell me much more than that
