Thinking about getting the Gjallahorn GH50. Someone compared then to the TH900 mk2. The Fostex after very thin sounding. Would anyone describe the GH50 as thin?

No, not at all. The Gjallarhorn isn't a thin or reedy headphone; rather, it has a lush timbre, with good levels of warmth permeating its signature. In contrast, the TH900 Mk2 has a leaner midrange; in tandem with its boosted bass and treble, the Fostex has a decidedly "v-shaped" signature. On the other hand, the Gjallarhorn presents a smooth, liquid and fuller tone.

You can read my comparison between the Gjallarhorn and the TH900 Mk2 here.

A lot of activity here I see.. :) nice hp indeed.

Question: does anyone have feedback on balanced cables for the GH? Which kind of cable (silver, copper etc.) and how do they work with them? Tnx

I use the Arctic Cables Palladium Series (palladium / silver) with XLR amp termination for the GH JM edition. The combination is magnificent. Luckily, the headphone terminations also fit the Focal Clears (spreads the PS cost).

Just finished my review of TEAC UD505- using Kennertons GH50 JM Edition primarily- I also updated my Ray Samuels Apache Review with pro and regular SPARKOS chips and OMG the GH50 JM is simply MY TRUE end all be all for headphones so far... week after week, month after month- I simply can not explain how happy I am - I can't stop loving and praising these HPs. Cheers all from NY USA- wishing all a free and transparent connection.

Considering the stuff that lays around these cans in the various pictures I am seeing, it tells a lot by the "average audience" this product has.. and makes me feel such a naive hobbist :)

Once when it is ok again to meet people in great halls to exchange experience and listen to each others gear I really need to find someone with $1k cables and settle it once and for all for myself. I just cannot imagine that by switching a small part of the chain (from copper to silver to whatever, while the rest stays as copper is it gets) makes a noticeable difference if you aren't the one that bought it.
Sure I switched from the stock cable as well. Something more convenient, lighter and less stiff but end of the day it has the same sound, YMMV.
