Driver of the new Magni versus driver of the Gjallarhorn JM Edition (modified)
(New) Magni
Quote Ivan(from Kennerton) : To tell you shortly, it is not a new Magni, the driver is indeed the same as in Magni for now, and that is the only of their similarities. The main feature of this model is that it has an embedded horn, which is actually carved of wood and is a part of the cup itself (I specified on the photo attached).
Driver of the new Magni
The design of the cup differs from Magni very much with different chamber and horn itself, which affect sound a lot. Their bass is very different from Magni's, the bass is much deeper, but due to the cups, it is not overloaded. Magni are much much more neutral.
Le Gjallarhorn
The current Gjallarhorns GH50 page https://kennerton.com/shop/gjallarhorn-gh-50/ Retail price is 1080 EUR, now with a huge discount of 25% for first 10 pcs, as you understand first 10 were already sold, I think the current price will be for a month or so.
There will be at least one another version with another driver, all I know at this point that the diameter of the driver will be different. The design of the cup takes a lot of time, it took 2 months to make current design by constant trial and error.
I should also mention since I custom stained the wood exterior- I also painted the surround flat black as seen above-compare that to the Kennerton web pic.
My custom stain as seen from the review I did- but failed to mention the black flat paint I used on mod.
Good morning all.
And in particular (for what follows) for French speakers.
What you can read on the French forum about the new Kennerton Magni headphones and the headphones (stock and Custom) of the Gjallarhorn "family", two great closed-back headphones with high-tech drivers using a mylar/graphene composite membrane, and now a horn (more developed on the Gjallarhorn model).
Sorry, but my last message about the new Magni (its latest evolution) is completely wrong.
Driver of the Kennerton Gjallarhorn GH 50 (and not of that the new Magni)
The driver above corresponds well to the one of the Gjallarhorn GH 50 (and not the one of the new Magni, or more precisely its third evolution as shown in the very complete review of the new Magni in the link below).
My Thekk (in picture below ) (after 150 hours of burn-in) is my better headphones (in front of all Audeze listened and to all other Kennerton headphones, and even the Stax SR-009).
Hello everybody
I received a beautiful magni two weeks ago.
first auditions were great compared to my campfire cascade but soon appeared misconfort in the trebles , then tinnitus , though a low volume with the dx220.
since a few days i had to stop using my Magni on the dx228 and wait for the tinnitus to leave ... it s a pity, the sound is so good !
Any advice to calm the trebles down?
i was nearly ready to change my dap and go on the cayin n6ii, which Is softer I read .
Thanks for your advices !
Had the same problem in the beginning with the Magni I had to change the cable and make it run on my Cowon Plenue S softer than the DTR1 and things became better after about 100 hours burned in
