Thanks Ford, I think I'm just going to have to leave it awkwardly in a corner of my room, maybe only take it out when getting used heh.

Today I ordered 15' XLR cables, 14' of canare quad cable, and a neutrik 4 pole male XLR connector.  Going to have to build a pigtail!

For those who have gone this route, did you go with spades, bare wire, crimps, or soldered bare wire?

You mean a female 4-pin XLR, right?

I rarely use the pigtail, so I leave it bare wire. Spades would be nice to make it look professional and easy to attach/detach.

I finally decided to go and take some measurements on the notch filter PCB in the K1000. I plugged the data into ltspice and it matches up pretty good to the frequency response measurements I took of the K1000 with and without the filter.

I know there was some curiosity about it a while back, but is anyone here still interested in the specifics?

I use various pigtails but my favorite is ...

Very sexy, seems a little weighty though.  I like the subtle highflyin9 watermark

I ended up changing the order in the nick of time, I'll post up my cable when I get around to it!

By the way, is there any place to buy new/aftermarket pigtails, or are DIY versions the only way to go? For instance, eBay only has those TRS ended ones.

Depending on your you budget you could try either APureSound or Moon Audio,  they start around $105+ for a 4ft version.

Thanks for the info! Good to know there are still options outside the second hand markets

Thanks for the welcome.

I don't know if here is the right place, but I would like to ask K1000 users to tell me their opinion on actually how many watts should an amp for them have...
I mean with a 74dbW sensitivity, why shouldn't we be satisfied with 0.5 watt amps?

I am using at the moment a solid state 75watt for them, but I feel with such a wattage I am actually under running my MBL 4004 pre.
Its pot is usually set at 9 o clock.
I would feel more relaxed if I could run my pre at 12 o clock, but then it is very loud.
