Krmathis believe that the recabling (hard wired) is a valid way?

If I only knew the answer.
I have never auditioned a K1000 with an aftermarket cable. I believe that the quality of a cable can make an audible difference, so that is about as close to an answer it gets.

FWIW, my SN13xx sounds significantly better after hardwire recabling with APS v3 than with the stock cable as did my later serial number set that has since been sold.

Attaching an after-market tail to the stock cable makes little sense to me. If you are going to re-cable do it properly and hardwire with your cable of choice.

I definitely found a slight improvement in bass on my supposedly "bass lite" pair when i replaced the mutli-coloured pigtail with a black dragon one.

I have a K1000 re-cabled with a APureSound V2 and a 2nd K1000 re-cabled by Fitz. Both sound fantastic and the K1000 re-cabled by Fitz sounds more open/detailed than with the stock cable. However for some reason the K1000 re-cabled by APureSound w/ their V2 cable sounds better, I am attributing the difference to variations in the headphones and not the cable. I do prefer the Fitz cable because it is very flexible and thiner.

I may plan to seek a 10k+ pair to accompany my 4930 in the summer. It should be much better from what I've gained.

It's partly odd, but the new toy syndrome hasn't vanished yet. I'm still getting wow effects from these.

Clearly a brilliant investment. The only thing is that the pads are getting loose. Gluing helps for some time, so it hasn't been an issue as of yet.

Lately I haven't followed much the scene, but I've been thinking of a cheapish upgrade... how would you say a Bel Canto DAC 3 play with the K1000? Trading the ECD-1 with some cash would be risky (what if the Canto doesn't fit in at all?) so I wouldn't know... The Canto is just very well received and praised. Funny as it might sound, I wouldn't mind some extra treble energy so non-fatiguing as it is.

Can any of you K1000 owners PM me the going rate for a pair of these (LNIB and used)? I have two I would like to sell and I am trying to figure out the asking price.

Thanks,

TJK.

$250 a pair, and I'll take both.

I'll offer $350 each, and pay for paypal and international shipping.....

US$1,000 to US$1,200 is a normal value. Less, if marked/damaged in any way or looking for a quick sale. More if they're in pristine shape with box and paperwork, or you really don't want to sell them..

Thanks for the replies everyone! I guess I'll go with $250 for the both of them... You know, you people should be ashamed of yourselves for trying to take advantage of a damsel in distress!

One thing I'd like to know is how you wear these things with the temple pads (also known as spikes of death) drilling into the sides of your head.

AND who wants to trade for HD800? I'll be moving this over to the FS/FT section...

Enjoy your brain clamps, you sickos! Oh, but the soundstage! And the speed and the clarity! They sound damn good.

TJK.
