Where did you call?  When I contacted Harman last week they told me they no longer offer replacement parts for the K1K...confused.  And what's the difference between the large vs. small pads from a comfort perspective?  Sorry if these questions have been covered before I got my K1K only 2 days ago and I'm still learning about it and haven't had time to peruse all these good threads.

Thanks!

They don't make more parts iirc but they do have some stock left.

Mr.Snies is correct I called harman at first and they had no idea what the K1000 It took some time to convince them that I was an really AKG product. And yes ask for Frank, for parts.

The small vs large pads are the two different shaped pads that are on each side of the K1000, one fixed and the other adjustable.

Thanks.  This is the email I got back from Frank (I was asking about replacement foam for the box):

The K1000 was discontinued approx 2005 - 2006.  We no longer carry packing materials for this product.  Cost was included in the cost of the K1000 at that time.  No price list available for that era.

Thanks for the description.  I'm going to try to order two of the large pads, which may be a better fit for me and allow for distribution of the pressure on the side of my temple.  BTW, S/N 04037 here, inherited from Milezone.  Thanks again!

Warp, are you saying you're trying to double up on the large pads for more pressure?  You've first tried adjusting the slide of the temple pads right?

Grats on the Milezone pair btw, they are probably more NOS than even my pair based on the looks ><

No, but my melon head is being squeezed a bit and I was wondering whether the larger pads would allow the pressure to be distributed a bit more evenly on a larger surface.  Milezone even included a pair of spare small pads in the sale.  Yeah, he took very good care of these, I don't think they are even broken in yet.  It was an eye-opening experience to listen to these using the Cary even after the Qualias.  Truth to tell, after the Qualias virtually every other can feels just uncomfortable.

So far I've only been trying to find the optimum angle for the speakers and didn't even look at the temple pads yet, but I'll do that as well.  Maybe that's all I need to do.

^  Yeah. Try the different positions of the temple pads -> slide them in/out until you find the most comfortable position.
