Really? better bass? better soundstage? I really don't think so... Now the mids you can disagree with no problem, as well the dynamics.

Yes it´s strong points of the DX 1000 I fully understand why you argue that :)

But for me it really grows levels on my Head One if you ever come over to Sweden I would let you listen to it. As for the DX 1000 mine is balanced and it´s also painted the ear cups for less resonances. Not sure the latter did much difference though. I only have one balanced amp but then I have to use it´s DAC so I am a bit tempted to try this https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-thx-aaa-789-linear-amplifier?mode=guest_open

I've heard the Elear only a few times, and I thought it was extremely detailed and more neutral sounding than the DX1000.
Kinda like it was basically an overweight HD650 on steroids.
I don't really see the point in the Elear, since it doesn't have the buttery smoothness of the HD650 and could definitley lose some weight, so it's not a relaxing headphone.
Also it doesn't excite and captivate like the HA-DX1000, so it's not a truly exciting headphone either.

So Elear might be a little bit too grey for it's own good. It gets close to my definition of truthful neutrality and faithful signal reproduction but doesn't offer anything more, which makes it kinda boring.

Anyone has compared old LCD2s (non-fazor if possible) with DX700/1000 ?
The more I listen to the JVC the more I like them. I start to be interested with headphones with a similar sound profile, very warm and relaxed tonality with no harshness at all above 2 khz.

I guess for earpads replacement, ZMF or LCD earpads could be a good option.

Long awaited little brother arrived :)

Absolutely gorgeous! Please give us your comparative impressions after you develop a good sense for the DX700.

Please give us your comparative impressions after you develop a good sense for the DX700.
I would love to but I'm afraid that would not be usefull. I would propably end up missleading people with my impressions.

Thing is my dx1000 is in it's dying bed. My first choice was dx2000 as dx1000 replacement but I didn't find one. Luckily I won an ebay auction for dx700.

Dx1000's voice coil on one driver is a loose and causes rattle with deep bass on loud volume. Pads are in bad shape with some pleather peeling off and all of the pads lips have detoriated so I have fixed them with tape.

I will try dx700 pads with dx1000 to see if it makes the two sound more a like. Right now dx1000 is a lot brighter than dx700. I did infact feel that dx1000 has gotten brighter over time. Now I'm sure of it because dx700 sounds a lot like I remember dx1000 sounding on it's better days.

I'll report back when I have done a padswap and had some good listening sessions. Might take a while though.

I have yet installed the driver I bought from wilashort. Bought it because one driver on my dx1000 has rattle with low bass. Anyway... Lately I've been listening to mostly hd800 and ollo audio S4. Of all the cliches I was listening to pachelbel Canon in d. Felt like something was missing with hd800. Switched to dx1000 and it sounded right again. Dx1000 was more spacious, had better imaging and more natural timbre than hd800.

Went on to listen to some offsping. Total change of space. My worn out dx1000 has a lot brighter tonality than normal. Pads are so worn out it is like velour pads. Making the overall tonality closer to hd800. Anyway... Soundstage is quite a bit deeper than on hd800. Not as wide but overall dx1000 feels more spacious which should be impossible. But yet I claim my worn out (and partly because of it) dx1000 sound more spacious than hd800 that supposedly has the largest soundstage ever.

Dx1000 sounds grainy up top in comparison. With these bad pads both have equally elevated treble.

With bass...Even though most of that wonderfull bass is gone with these torn up pads... JVC at 50% performance beats hd800 by quite a margin.

Wow... Guess I should sell my hd800. Anyone Else had experiences with dx1000 being better than headphones that should have been superior?

Thanks for your impressions, and i am very glad that the driver that i sold to you, works wonderfully.
In other hand, thanks again for your impressions comparing with the HD800. I was very interested in those headphones previously, because of the soundstage and details that i hear from comments; but i prefer the bass that the DX1000 have and body.
I Like very much my DX1000 too. I bought another drivers for them that are VERY similar to the stock form in sound, but a little better that them both

Definitely.
I've often taken off my Hifiman HE-500, put on the DX1000 and gladly welcomed the reduced weight, improved soundstage and more volumous and natural bass, as though listening in a room or space and not just to a digital recording.
It's very often a more enticing experience that sucks you right into the music.
