I'll take your word for it on the D2000s.  I've had my D5000's for almost a month now and played them daily. I can't say I've noticed any changes.  I think they are what they are at this point.

I'll hold onto the D2000s and see what happens.

Thanks for the impressions! Just had a quick listen on the D1100s today and am suitably impressed! I might pull the trigger as my portable cans soon! Great price from amazon! :)

Signing in as a happy new owner of the D1100. I got them at a great introductory price from the Denon booth at a recent local hifi show.

I've only about 20 hours on them, and they're getting better with more burn-in. Yes, they're bassier than the D1001, but it's not as overpowering as impressions make them out to be. Great counterpoint to my Beyer DT 150, which are lean and dry with velour pads.

Oh and they take very well to amping - driving them with the D4 Mamba on low gain adds a welcome boost in the mids for more crunch and bite.

Just wondered if anybody knows whether the Jmoney Denon replacement pads will work on the D1100s?

That would be incorrect. When i did audition them, i clearly remember them being around-ear. :)

On the Denon-website , it is written that the AH D1100 is ON EAR not AROUND EAR , is this correct ?

Copying and pasting my post from another thread:

Today I had a chance to compare my recabled AH-D1001 to AH-D1100 with stock cable both plugged in to Yulong D100. Will try my best to explain with my poor english. Listened to When The Levee Breaks by LZ (44.1/16 FLAC), because I 'know' this song very well. First what I noticed is comfort of AH-D1100. They feel just like AH-D1001, but more comfortable with bigger ears. There's more space in AH-D1100's cup.

And the sound: My recabled AH-D1001 sounded quite better. My AH-D1001 had little bigger soundstage on that song. Higher resolution in high frequencies -- cymbals sounded more realistic, just the way they should.

AH-D1100 sound reminded me of AH-D1001 + stock cable. Also bass on AH-D1100 sounded less controlled than on my AH-D1001. AH-D1100 sounded 'narrower' and something like 192kbps mp3. I'm sure these differences were caused by that thin cable of AH-D1100. I suggested the owner of AH-D1100 to recable them.

And I think it's now safe to say that racable really did improve the sound of my AH-D1001.

Not unless shaking your head like a dog shaking off the water of its fur possibly. At least for me the creaking sound is only heard when putting them onto your head.
