Hey guys! Just joined the community and want to ask what's going on with you guys? :) Also, how do you guys think the Sony MDR-V6 and Bose AE2 stack up to each other for home usage, and how do you thing the Sennheiser HD 202 II stack up against the Sony MDR-XB300 for portable usage? I've read great things about the MDR-V6 and I've both read great things about the AE2's, and gave them a test drive for myself and the sounded pretty sweet. Also, the HD 202 II is supposed to be really good and looks pretty sleek as well, and the same with the MDR-XB300.

Anyways, these are the headphone pairs I'm debating on getting someday.

Sony MDR-V6 or Bose AE2 for at-home usage.
Sennheiser HD 202 II or Sony MDR-XB300 for iPod usage.

Also, I've listened to the Koss UR40's and love the way they sound and feel on the head, but they're horrible at sound leakage. And the MDR-V150's I'm using right now are good for the price, but I just wanna upgrade to some better 'cans eventually.

In addition, was considering the MDR-XD200 over the MDR-V6, but those are discontinued now, whereas the MDR-V6 is still alive and kicking.

No contest. Get the V6. It is a true professional headphone. Other options are the Sony ZX700($120), or the Koss pro DJ100($80). Try to listen to these and see what you prefer as far as sound and fit. Some prefer the v6 to the ZX700 while others prefer the ZX700. I think the ZX700 might be the same as the Sony 7510. The ZX700 has a 50mm driver vs 40mm for the V6.

Why those? For the low price? The XB500 is so much better than the XB300. Avoid the XB300.

The Sennheiser HD202II is very inefficient. it is not a good headphone to use with a portable.
If you want a good cheap headphone, get the JVC HAS160. It is around $10 or so.If you are willing to spend $34(amazon), the JVC HAS650 has better bass and detail  than the HAS160 while still being compact and very efficient. The $40 JVC HAM750 isolates better than the HAS650 but is much larger. It is also very efficient. Another efficient $40 choice is the AKG K430(Amazon).

The HAS650 is a bit warm, while the HAS160 is neutral. If you don't mind an open headphone, the Sennheiser PX100II($42) has nice warm sound. The Koss KSC75 earclip headphone for $15 is a decent value, but imo is not as good as the JVC HAS160.

If you do decide to get the V6, don't pay more than $95 for it. That is what B&H sells it for with free US shipping. it used to be $65 a few months ago, but now there is a shortage of them, and most dealers are sold out.

Might just go ahead and buy myself the V6 or 7506 once I have enough dough saved up and use them for everything then. -shrug- They seem like they'd be more than tough enough to take being carted around on a sometimes daily basis.

And will probably use the V150's for whatever once that happens.
