John Grado has agreed to an interview, I invite you to suggest some questions

Zanth, what questions are you currently mulling? That would help cut down on repetition, and also help craft some followup questions, such as the cable question from the SR40 question.

Just FYI you might not want to put that in comparative context with the Alessandro. The reason being is that the official Grado stance is that Alessandro is not to sell these commercially, which would compete against Grado, which makes no sense. Instead, the Alessandro products are only for pros and musicians, like the folks who use the rest of Alessandro's gear such as the speaker cabs, etc. He might get testy if head-fiers are assuming that Alessandro is a commerical free-for-all that acts as a financial loophole to get Grado products cheaper overseas.

Given the naming convention, the RS-1 is the current top model (PS-1 excepted of course).

Another higher-end model couldn't be called RS-0.

Are there plans to launch another series in the near future, and what would they be called?

Ah, if I listed my questions I would not have any suprises when the answers come. Don't worry I don't mind reading repetition, and really I'm the only one that will recognize them as so giving my prepared list.

what I will do is amass all the questions and sort them into categories and from each try to get in a few to give a well rounded interview. I don't want to take up too much of John's time. We have been playing phone tag and as it stands, it looks like Thursday morning will be the interview.

1) Is the Grado sound firmly locked into place within the lineup, or perhaps would there be a future series with a slightly different sound signature for those who love the resolution and impact but simply get fatigued of the highs and upfront sound?

2) With the community of Head-Fi showing an interest in modding headphones, and the hand-built nature of Grado headphones, is there any possibility of 'custom ordered/built' headphones

3) What are John's thoughts on the headphone market today, in terms of the public's perception of headphones and the current performance

rice ratio that exists

4) Are there any plans to target a deal with a retail outlet to gain exposure + volume of units sold

(this may have been mentioned before) 5) With the explosion of portable DAPs, are there any plans to capitalize on the market with a headphone geared more towards the market (in terms of size, price, comfort, etc.)

Not that I'm personally curious, but just to put this old chestnut to rest -

Are all the Grado headbands, from the SR60 to the PS-1, made of leather?

Ask him if he's ever considered bringing back the old sr/hp line, see as many people (well, at least) would probably be interested in purchasing them.

Or, does he have any plans on releasing a circumaural phone? And does he have any hot young female relatives?

What does he think of the Sennheiser sound? Also what does he think of cans like the 595 designed to be "brighter" than normal senns?

What was the thinking / business strategy in partnering with Alessandro Music products, and would he consider partnering with another "label". Is he concerned that the MS1 seems to be pulling so much sales volume from the SR125 and SR80?

I would like this question too.

What headphone does John listen to the most?

How many hours a week does John spend listening to headphones?

What kind of a legacy does John desire to be his in the headphone industry? / What does he want to be rememberd by in the head-fi world?

How many Grado Labs headphones have been sold since the inception of the company?

How does he keep making such nice headphones that annoy people so much?
I mean NO ONE makes a headphone for $80 that sounds as good as the SR-80, it is simply a fact.
