About 10dBs pinna gain plateauing near 2kHz instead of 3, slightly sub-bass biased, decent treble extension with the ‘1’ setting.
If you happen to have some spare time, could you do an overlay comparing the D02 and the NM2+?

For those who own both, what are your subjective impressions by way of comparison? Especially regarding technicalities. I got the opportunity to pick up the D02 for $71 new which seems like a deal. The D02 seems like it might be a good on-the-go version of the NM2+ with the boosted bass and hopefully better isolation - the isolation on the NM2+ is pretty mediocre for me which further cements it as an at-home IEM to my mind.

Thanks for the info.

I made a photo, the left one is the old one and the right the new one. Also they look more black and don‘t have this purple shimmer. But maybe my eyes got worse over the years. :D

Are you certain the left one is not the ISN D10? That is what that looks like to me. I compared my shells of both and that is what that looks like.

The specialty of the D02 IMO, in comparison with other single DD IEMs, is soundstage and imaging, which I find quite similar overall to the NM2+. The NM2+ detail retrieval is superb, whereas the D02 retrieval is very good, and still better than say the T2+. The D02 definitely has more bass, especially sub bass, but less treble extension and treble amount. For some reason, for me, I find the upper midrange more intense on the D02, and thus I use micropore tape on the D02, but don’t need to on the NM2+. D02 isolation with foam tips is very good, and is the best that I’ve experienced so far with a single DD IEM.

That's also the first thing that hit me with the D02; soundstage. The NM2+ just edges it there plus the imaging and overall tonal balance. When I compared the two, I obviously felt the lack in treble energy from the D02. Soundstage also got narrower. Resolution also wins on the NM2+. I think this is understandable given the different price categories they are in.

The D02 is a good single DD IEM. I'm pretty satisfied with it whenever I pull it out to enjoy my music collection whether on the go or just at home. Recently, I've been enjoying the pairing with an iPod Classic 5.5th gen.

I recently picked up a pair of the ISN H40's used off on headfi forums. When I got them I saw they have a blue/purple color in natural daylight, and with indoor light/night time they look black. Every picture I see online shows the ISNH40 as black shells so I was very confused. Had to look at the nozzle colors to distinguish - I think the D10 have a plastic/black nozzle and silver grille while the H40 have a gold metal nozzle and a bronze-ish grille (in the right light).

Shell looks a bit bulkier but should fit exactly the same. Maybe some variation from shell to shell in developement but pretty much the same size.
I wrote with penon and they‘re definetely different. There are the old ones, smaller in size, grey/bronze grill and the new ones, bulkier and with a gold grill. Also don‘t have the same fit for my ears.
Sound is also different (more bassy, more impact, not that airy, but this could also be the short playing time of under 30 hours of the new ones).

I like the look of the newer cable more but the old case is way better.

hello,
is there a frequency graph on the H40,
before and after nozzle filter mod?
and also is there any QC issue with the H40?
thank you,
