I'm pleased the 6 suits you. Doesn't sound like my flavour. The last thing my IE8's need is more warmth. I shall be hanging onto my 5S as long as possible.

Agreed. They'll probably integrate Beats into iOS. Since 95% of Apple users (99% ?) also think Beats is a premium headphone brand, it'll be fine with the user base.
Well, for audiophiles in Europe, it doesn't matter. Unless you go to America to get one, you're stuck with the European iPhone 6 which gets only half as loud as non-Euro iPhone 6. Not just volume but SQ also suffers. Some people use portable amps but I don't like carrying them around. I'm going to buy the upcoming Galaxy S6 with Wolfson dac instead.

The trend seem to be moving away from wolf's on at the moment. But I have high hopes in apple. They love music. They won't cut us off. Instead I think they will make our lives easier. Like the direct digital out via lightning that enables such cool devices like the centrance hifi skyn.

Well. We might have full volume here but instead we have deactivated facetime on iOS and no BBM video/Voice on BBOS, censored Internet and and and ;/) but nothing you can't "root" as well
IMO Apple care about providing great sound quality to everyone, and IMO the iP6/+ is their best to date but I think also that any device manufacturers best interests are always in improving sq as much as they can with new improved models they develop.
Indeed. Because they didn't buy an audio equipment company any but a streaming service, curating and contacts with the music industry. Sennheiser, beyerdynamic etc would be way cheaper to buy if they would be for sale. In my opinion.
Yeah... Now that Cirrus bought Wolfson, I don't think there will be much difference in terms of sound signature/quality. I wonder if Wolfson chips will be produced under Cirrus name from now on?..
Samsung is doing the right thing. Qualcomm is such a lazy and lousy company, and their audio codecs simply suck. Apple made custom 64 bit chips 2 years ago... Qualcomm can't even do it now, upcoming SD810 is not a custom design but an Arm one, and all the reports say it overheats. Exynos 7420 in Galaxy S6 will be the first chip on 14 nm process and is technically superior to both Apple's and Qualcomm's chips. Samsung recently opened a USD 15 billion Exynos chip factory outside Seoul. I bet they're also going to produce next iPhone's chips there.
Trying to assess that gripes about iPhone 6 bass i have been comparing it to my good old iPad 3 (which i deem as warm, and sounds almost identical the iPhone 4s).
Well i don't hear the 6 being any warmer. What sticks out it's that transients and percussion sound more clear, natural and life like on the 6 which makes the iPad 3 sound a bit compressed.
I think that 5s has been the only Apple handheld that steered clear from a warm tone and the 6 is just the return of the usual iPhone warmth but keeping the killer transients and percussion that 5s brought to the table.
As i said at high levels the 6 is mesmerizing. Like being at the studio.

Coming from the iPhone 5, there is no doubt that I welcomed the additional power output of the 6. More sensitive IEMs were able to be driven much easier, and even hard to drive headphones were just a bit more listenable!
