iPhone 5 (and new Touch) has totally new dock connector - 'Lightning' - adapters available but no line-out

Wait a minute, I get the the new adapter can be used for iPod docks that uses analog output of the iPod, but what about the more expensive (better) ones like Monitor Audio, that extracts the audio digitally from the iPod, how is this possible with the new iPhone or the new iPod Touch when using the adapter, since the adapter is analog audio only?

Only Apple-approved manufacturing facilities will be able to produce Lightning connector accessories, according to iLounge. Since Apple hasn't approved any factories yet, consumers can expect delays in new Lightning-enabled products reaching the market.
 
Apple reportedly has scheduled a seminar in China in November to discuss the changes it's making in its MFi (Made For iPhone/iPad/iPod) program.

Apple have always been rather fanatical about their walled garden architectures and I really believe that it makes for a more cohesive user experience if one can accept to live in a closed world. But naturally there is no doubt the the monetary side of this approach plays a large part in this and plenty people are willing to accept this approach (myself included) because we believe that we get a better total product albeit at a premium price

Wow the iPhone 5 is FAST compared to my old iPhone 4. Everything feels so much faster. Just played with it today at the local Apple dealer while waiting for my pre-ordered iPhone 5 to arrive.

I checked on Amazon and see a couple at over 900, no thanks. I suspect they will be around 600 when the production finally starts and when it has caught up to demand. Wouldn't mind one but I don't like contracts. I also would prefer a true digital out, which goes back to something like Samsung then but they are getting way too big for my taste (like putting a tablet to your ear).

I don't know what Apple pays Macworld Australia each year, but the entire magazine is a glossy advertorial for all things Apple. I suspect that the staff views its target audience  as hipsters sitting around drinking coffee whilst social networking on their iPads - I only quoted the story because it was one of the earliest hits on Google re the adapter. 
 
That said, you have a point, Their source was something from iLounge - the Cyclopaens leading the blind - and I may have been better off not including it at all. I still maintain that Apple lays ripe ground for this sort of speculation when they refuse to release detailed technical specifications and leaves it to the likes of Engadget and Tom's Hardware to fill in the blanks,

No worries estreeter, the story has enough merit that it should be linked to the thread, thank you for your diligence. I dunno man, I'm a proud geek at heart but sometimes I can't help but shake my head and wonder why some of the people who report tech don't stop and take a step back and think about what they write before they post silliness. The worst part about whats been going on nowadays is the various fan clubs. Until the day I die I'll never understand why certain people who are obviously well educated and generally well rounded spew out hate and filth on the various tech blogs to the point they begin to sound like brand zealots out to spread the almighty word of the one true phone/computer/whatever. The absolute worst part of it is when a company is caught with their pants down doing wrong the zealots actually go out of their way to twist and lie about the truth and protect some multi billion dollar mega corp as if it's their first born. Over the last few years it's gotten utterly ridiculous.
