Finally I test the DIY broad for TO-99 Single Channel OP amp, made for Valoq.
Test for unbalance only.
Comparing OPA627BM and OPA627AU (DIY, with Double-sided Broad), sound better, however, just a slight improvement on smoother highs, vocal also a bit of more focus.....all in all, not much differents.
Maybe not enough supply voltage to tell the difference?? Consider BM (DIY cost) is more than double, OP627AU is already a very good choice.
Agree on the Measurement vs listening audition.....I also Try LME49710HA (single) with broad, LME 49990 (single) with broad...they all measure very good, sound very clear, details......but also...... boring.
OPA128SM sounds very, very good to my ears. Sadly it on the warm side, plus the already on a "warm" sounding on Valoq....very good on vocal and instrument type of music, but less dynamic on others.
I'm use to "hate" OPA 6XX" series in my diy project. Sounds very wide but with too much "unreal colors" on Mids and Highs...but..
Consider this is only one mod (OP amp change) in Valoq (also a selling point), OPA627AU/AM/BM is my choice and it just help to balance it with Valoq's warm sounding, make almost all music sounds nice.
I caved an ordered the opa627au, wasn't cheap but had to try it. They arrived today, the fit inside is just enough, the opamp are certainly touching. Too soon to tell of the changes. I wish the 627sm was cheaper so I could try, I am going to try my luck and see if they are willing to send me a loaner unit. From doing my research the opa627xx family require proper design to perform their best but honestly I don't know.
I for one love the operation and UI of valoq. it is not as good as apple but than again what is, for my purpose it does the job, it is fast and I do enjoy the scroll wheel. If anything I would have pereferred that FF was carried when the operation button is pressed once, I just dislike double clicking the scroll wheel.

I have been enjoying my Valoq with the opa627au for the past few weeks. This week I'm trying out my new Kumitate Trio which is rather crisp sounding, and I have just swapped back for the Muses02 for a (theoretically) nicer match.
salehifi is where I bought my staff after having zero luck with VC Japan. I highly recommend their balance trrs cables. I am still burnin the opamp, I will report back late.r
Good to know. Actually I was thinking of buying one but later I understood that I need silver and not copper and have ordered the Silver Dragon trrs from moon-audio.
Mouser or DigiKey for the chips, then ebay for the boards (I posted them here in the past.) However, SaleHiFi.com, VC front end in HK, now carries official OPA627SM version of the Valoq.
