Introducing the Audeze LCD-R!

Hard tracking down much info on these, but assuming you could use these with a Raal speaker interface box and a speaker amp? Do know it will void the warranty, but just wondering. :)

Apart from voiding warranty they would run just fine on the Raal amp and speakerbox Adapter tho.

Audeze clearly states that any other amp would void warranty: "You MUST use the LCD-R with this particular Schiit amplifier. Using any other amplifier will void the warranty."

@number1sixerfan, did you grab one of the two that were on sale today?

Yea, I wouldn't want to void the warranty, but I also don't want to be bottlenecked by a Jot amp. But in either case was just curious, I'd start with the Jot amp regardless and assess whether it's worth the risk. And yes, I happened to luck up on a pair and the seller happened to be in my actual area for a local sale. Should be able to get them by Mon or Tues. :)

You have some solid gear in your signature. I'd be very curious to get your opinion on the LCD-R compared to what you have.

Just one point of contention. The LCD-R rolls off pretty ****ing hard sub like 50hz if not even higher
If you can't EQ the low bass roll off, try breaking the seal between your head and the ear pads (sub bass is quite increased when wearing a baseball hat, or just pulling them slightly away from your head). Abyss is all about the broken seal to get their bass slam. I also think it takes a bit of the edge off of the shout that @WaveTheory refers to.

Or pad swapping might help.

If I'm honest, I hadn't thought about trying to break the seal a bit. Ill try that on Monday for sure

@number1sixerfan, very nice, and congrats! Perhaps we will see a LCD-R cameo in your must-read flagship comparison thread.

Thank you both! Definitely will be comparing these against the CRBN on the way, along with everything else I have on hand. I'll probably only keep all the gear I have for the next 6 months or so before pairing down, so I'm definitely looking forward to sharing as much as I can before then. :)

I ordered some Dekoni "Elite" Leather Pads to try with the LCD-R. Once I get them and change them out, I'll report any sonic differences that I hear. I'm sure the sound signature will be changed, but if it isn't too bad and the new pads address the comfort, these headphones will be keepers!
Cheers! :beerchug:
