Introducing Shanling SCD1.3 - New SACD player

Even my Sony ubp X700 can choose between Cd and Sacd.
For what is worth, my Pioneer DV-563A-S can also choose between CD and SACD layers in hybrid SACDs, but (unless I missed a command) only in the settings menu.

I got lost after my original reply. The PS AUDIO PERFECTWAVE SACD TRANSPORT can select between the DSD layer and CD layer of a Hybrid_SACD

I am an owner of the EC Mini, and one of the issues with that unit is it is not gapless. Do we know whether SCD1.3 will feature gapless playback?
It works the same way as ET3, so there might be a tiny gap if you really focus on it, but not something you would notice in use with normal music.

I may likely add this transport to my desktop rig given I’m seeking a CD player solution that has a small footprint. I have a Roon Nucleus paired to a Lumin U1 mini. This peripheral player will allow me to spin all of my discs (including SACD). I prefer the tray loader on this unit rather than the front slot or top loading design of their other offerings.

I think the Shanling blurb says that all digital outputs will be PCM 88.2 kHz if you are playing SACD, this seems to cover the I2S case.
It`s a shame that Shanling offers the bubble of "I2S" output without give us the complete 2.8Mhz DSD stream capability with it. My Pioneer Blu-Ray Player BDP-62FD from 10 years ago (and many Oppo's) can output from coaxial at 88.2Khz PCM. This is not rare but common figure. So why invest in a Shanling SACD player (or thinking to buy a I2S DAC), with the same results?

Does the local DAC do a PCM conversion first before final conversion to analog? Or DSD straight to analog?

Straight DSD.

SACDs can be played to their full quality with the onboard DAC, as SCD1.3 was mainly designed as an SACD player with analog output, digital outputs are not priority on this model.

But at the same time, SACD playback is only part of the functionality of SCD1.3. CDs, DLNA, local files with ultra-hires, they all can use the I2S output.

Also, many people prefer to purchase new devices with warranty and support instead of legacy devices.

@Shanling
Does the SCD1.3 plays SACD-R Disks - (Disks burned from ISO files onto DVD-R discs) ?

Thanks in advance for your help.
It is a good question. Some of us have many SACD copies (I don't like the term pirated copies), but this is true. It would be nice that the Shanling SCD1.3 can read these DVD-R discs. If someone can test it and tell us their findings, it would be great help. Thanks.
